I just want to say first and foremost that the prices for Intel's processors are the reason why I have never owned one, and probably never will. It's ridiculous what they charge - I mean, you can buy a whole frickin' computer w/ monitor for less than they charge for that i7. Yes, AMD processors aren't as good, but at least you don't have to take out a 2nd mortgage to pay for them.

That said, I think that's a great setup, and you should go with it. Here's hoping your wife agrees!

I'm liking the setup, good choice going with the 280, you'll love it. The only thing I would change is the processor. I wouldn't go with the 940 over the 920. The 920 is easily overclockable, however if you don't want to bother get the 940. I have the Antec 900 in my wife's PC, it's a great little case.

Oh one other thing, why the 280 and the 9400??? You can't use both.

Damn, didn't even notice the 2 different video cards. They have to be the same cards, or it won't work.

It has to be the same cards only if you are running SLI right?

Otherwise, if you are simply running mult. monitors, it can be different cards.

I am running three monitors (four if I can talk the wife into it)

Actually, for Core2Duo lineup was one of the most cost effective line of processors for the computing power you could buy. It brought Intel back into the hardcore geek's good graces.

The i7's are a bit pricey but they are brand spanking new technology and architecture...they will come down.

I love the system, but why on earth do you need 4 monitors?

I would suggest going with a larger screen if you are going widescreen. I have a Dell 24" widescreen (2408WFP) and it is just a fantastic monitor. Since the native resolution is higher then a 19", you may get away with two monitors and save the money on the extra graphics card.

Check the specs on the 280, it can run multiple moniters, not sure how many, but you are correct on the SLI. Probably 2 since they have 2 out ports, but if you SLI them every monitor runs better.

Multiple montors is like horsepower in a motorcycle. There's never enough.

Yeah, it can only run two DVI monitors.

Check out the specs on the card... Since I am not a big time gamer, I really don't need to SLI the card. Any gaming I do will be fine with that card.
