Though I'm still keeping the faith here, if they lose this one, Bylsma will make some adjustments and they'll come out firing and ready to rumble tomorrow night. We've been down before and we've bounced right back up. I really believe in this team.

We'll get these Dead Thing jackoffs tomorrow night.

Fluke Goals will only get you so far. But the Pens also need to solve Osdouche.

Oh yeah, and Gill is a weak link in the defense. The dude is just not having a good playoffs.

Red Wings got 2 goals of their spring loaded boards. Our guys played their hearts out, but it just wasn't happening tonight. I'm proud and hell of these guys, all of them.

Yep. They got all the bounces and stole one.

They won't get all the bounces every night. We'll be fine.

You know, I'm not going to sit here and whine about Gill or whine about this and whine about that. The team played well tonight, meaning EVERYONE played well. Sometimes the bounces just don't go your way.

We'll get them tomorrow night. I know...I KNOW...we can beat these guys.

when are we going to stop with this dump and chase method? i don't get it, i thought we were over this after therrien left and bylsma's "offense the best defense" mentality took over, but tonight all we did was dump the puck in their zone and pretty much hand over possession. same thing we did last year. didn't work then, and it won't work now, detroit's defense is too good for that. hopefully bylsma throws those tactics out the window because they were no good, but honestly he should have already known better. let our boys pass, just look what we did to carolina and washington. gotta give credit for detroit's d breaking a lot of play up, but we only actually carried the puck into their zone a handfull of times, most of the time we just launched it in there, their d got a hold of it, and the attack was over. i was screaming at my tv for us to pass it around and not give up the puck, it was so frustrating. c'mon boys you're better than that!

that being said, even with the dump and chase i still thought we outplayed them (a big difference between last year and this year), but if we actually carried the puck in, retained possession, and passed it around (we did it briefly in each period, especially in the 2nd), then we have em on the boards. i don't understand why we didn't do that all game.

The Pens played the same way they've played ever since Bylsma took over. The whole philosophy behind his system is to get the puck deep, work down low and get their forecheck going. It's not simply "dump and chase." The Wings WANT you to try to pass it around, so that they can simply pick off the passes and go the other way. If you want to beat them, you HAVE to get the puck in deep, get shots on goal and get traffic in front of the net. They did quite a bit of that tonight, it's just Osgood was a brick wall in goal.
