Talking I went to a tea party!!

Yesterday I went to a tea party held in easton. It was really awesome! We had a speakers speaking out against socialism including an independent running for congress in 2010 and a immigrant from Czesh republic who experienced socialism and said it was bad. I got a booklet of the constitution with all amendments, info on pa-can fighting for independence, and information on cap and trade (cap and tax as one guy called it), among others. It was pretty fun and had the message of stand up for your constitutional rights

Any solutions being tossed out there?

Great to see people standing up for their beliefs, but these are nothing like the original Tea Parties.

I do, however, hope these develop into something productive, proactive, and beneficial to the entire system.

Oh, I thought you were referring to the "other kind" of tea party.

Actually, it is a lot like the other tea parties. Taxation without representation. Those in Congress voted for this massive stimulus bill without taking the time to read what was actually in it, and then complained about what it contained. The democratic party is supposed to be the party of the working class and underprivileged, and yet passed the most regressive tax in the history of the world. I don't call that being represented properly, do you?

I'd love to see a national movement organize to run against these clowns in Congress. Run as independents wherever possible, or as a member of the Republicrats where ballot access laws are too restrictive.

Funny you say that.

Democrats are finding every way to screw over the middle class(Faster then the Bush administration did in 8 years). They proposed the biggest spending bill without ever reading it first(Not to mention passed it without 1 Republican vote). Cap and Trade is a Cap and Tax deal. Basically under this bill(Written by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi who happens to be a Democrat) would basically tax any amount of energy you use(Another bill they didn't even get a chance to read), despite the fact that this bill did have the right purpose.

Now tell me who's been calling out the Democrats over all of this? John Boehner and Bill Shuster to name 2 guys. What do they hold in common, they're both Republicans.

Bottom line, if you really want to clean up govt., attempt to find a way to keep one party from controlling Congress and The White House at the same time. Keeping things cleaned up that way works more times then not.

I lkeit, petitions are a great thing. :) What issues were the petition addressing?

Also, don't be foolish, this is not taxation without representation. Since 2006 the current party has legitimitely won their elections through votes, and winning again 2008. They are representing those people that voted them in, and if that is seemingly contrary to what those who voted for them desired, then either petitions or ultimately ousting from office is due. So no, this is not taxation without representation.
