Default Where Will Hines End Up All-Time in Receptions?

Just thinking that if Hines can play out his contract he could end up in the top ten all time. He needs about 200 more catches. Lets leave Frank Summers and O-Line out of this discussion.

Right now he is currently ranked 22nd all time will 800 receptions. He is ranked 8th active. #1 active is Marvin Harrison and he isn't on anyones team. Currently and 2# active Isaac Bruce and is the 3rd option in San Fran.

IF he plays out the rest of his contract, whic highly doubt only because he is injury prone and ont he wrong end of 30.

but, i would say he would be in the top 10-15 of all-time. i'm hoping atleast in the top 10. if that's the case, he's getting into the Hall no doubt.

If he plays out his contract, with the offense being more of a passing offense than it ever was under Cowher, he can sneak into the top 12, and possibly the top 10.

but bumping up from 22 to move into the top 10 would be a feat in itself note worthy of taking him to the Hall.

it's a BIG step, but it can be done. i'd love to see it happen. Bettis is top 5 in rushing. he's had a bust since Super Bowl XL! =)

Very true, and he had a bust waiting for him for the last few years before we finally won XL.

Holmes will be getting alot more receptions making it harder for Hines to fine the top ten. I believe he will level out around14 or 13 maybe.

for those of you disillusioned thinking ward is a HOF lock... your wrong ....see where chris carter is on these list ? he shoulda been first ticket, but he wasn't. by the time ward retires, he's gonna be fighting to get on the ballad along with several other top flight receivers. i think he's still a good, 3 - 1000 yd seasons away from even serious consideration. the bar keeps getting set a little higher every year for receivers since the league has gone pass happy.

thank you for that list. i was looking all over for that damn thing. seriously. i needed that.

i wouldn't say Ward is a lock for the Hall. but i honestly think he will be the next Steeler after Jerome Bettis. he's got a lot of credentials and his attitude and demeanor are a plus. he's not a team-cancer like Owens and he's got 2 rings, one MVP, tenure, and he's a solid player who's changed the way all receivers play the game. not on a grand scale, but i think most receivers would love to play like Hines plays. he's a great player who holds a lot of Steelers records and he may not make it in on the first try, but he'll make it eventually. hopefully.

what saddens me is, Owens will get in no problem. but that's only based on his numbers. he's a total assface and with an attitude like that, he should be banned from even trying out for the ping pong hall of fame!

Good post, MOP, and thank you for the stats info.

Hines is not a LOCK for the HOF for the reasons set forth above, plain and simple. It would be great to see him get into the great hall, but I'm not holding my breath.

If Hines wins another SB MVP award, they will have to let him in the HoF
