Border crossing what the hell do we need a border crossing for this freaking state let's EVERYONE in. California holds 13% of this countries population and 30% of the welfare cases. Don't get me started. and after Osama Obama shoves health care up our asses amnesty is next on his socialist agenda....we are screwed.

Have ya been to a DMV lately. Point made.

Unions. For the last 20 years, the state has basically let the teachers' unions, firefighters' unions, public service unions, etc., have basically whatever they want. Now everyone's well-paid and gets health care for free, and it's almost impossible to fire anyone.

It's not unusual to see firemen making a starting salary of $150,000-$200,000. The BART train station agents get paid $31 an hour (plus free health care and a fully funded retirement plan at $50,000 a year) to sit at the information booth, and they're going on strike because they want a raise. It costs almost twice as much to run the prisons here ($45,000 a year per prisoner compared to $27,000 national average) because the prison guard unions have forced them to constantly jack up salaries for decades. I swear I am not making this up. link 1 link 2 link 2a link 3

So ... yeah. That's what's wrong with this picture. I've got to get out of this stupid state.

I always get a chuckle out of this example because the DMV is the only Mississippi agency I've dealt with that DOESN'T deserve an F-.

At least they are considering leaglizing pot. That should happen nationally. Think of the jobs that could produce! Tax the heck out of it. Create a new industry. Lower stupid non violent court cases.

Calif. tax officials: Legal pot would bring $1.4B

A bill to tax and regulate marijuana in California like alcohol would generate nearly $1.4 billion in revenue for the cash-strapped state, according to an official analysis released Wednesday by tax officials.

The State Board of Equalization report estimates marijuana retail sales would bring $990 million from a $50-per-ounce fee and $392 million in sales taxes.

The bill introduced by San Francisco Democratic Assemblyman Tom Ammiano in February would allow adults 21 and older to legally possess, grow and sell marijuana.
