I'm a little worried about camp this year. From everything I'm reading, this is the least physical camp Tomlin has run since being a coach here. We won a Superbowl by instilling toughness and a physical nature from the outset of camp last year. Resting your veterans, giving everyone time off, and taking a lesser physical approach to training camp this year worries me. Even if we say we're not going to sit on our Championship, and even if we say we're going to approach it differently then the last time. This camp is telling me that we're not. Mentally we're not preparing as if we're hungry for a Superbowl. We're approaching this as if we're already good enough. The story I read on ESPN really worries me. "expect not to see much of Ben in preseason" why? cause he's that good? sure he's a winner! he's proven that, but he still has a lot to improve on as far as being a pure passer.
Don't sit on the success of last year and think it's going to carry over into this year! approach your camp the same damn way each and every year! These guys are going to be soft heading into the Tennessee game! |

No worries here. They still have 7 days left of TC at St. Vincent. Tomlin will have them ready to rumble by the season opener - bank it.

coaches change their TC style every year.
I'm sure he is still being tough on the young players just giving the vets some rest |

I am not worried at all. Tomlins style will not let them be soft as HTG said we still have a week and I bet Tomlin will make the most of it.

Tomlins 1st camp was the toughest because he was the new guy and had to show all the players, even vets, who was running the show. He needed the guys to buy in to his philosophy and play his way, not the old way (Cowher's way).
He pretty much admitted that the team was pretty burned out by week 16, and that those tough summer days could have been the reason. ![]() Coach knows what, and whos buttons to push by know. I'll trust his judgement.

Last year about this time we had LBers James Harrison,Anthony Trucks, and Mike Humpal...CB Deshea Townsend,.... DE Brett Keisel, ...WR Limas Sweed, ,....O-linemen Kendall Simmons and Marvel Smith, ....and TE Dezmond Sherrod all off the field with a variety of injuries.
We lost Parker, for a time, by week two...Kiesel and Smith at the beginning of Oct..and Clark for a while in October also... Just saying there "might" be a thought to practice more efficiently in regards to wear and tear on the bodies of the players |

I was just reading the thread about Sweed and Hampton missing practice, where people are worried about all the injuries, and then I come here and read about how the training camp might be being run too soft. lol We can't have it both ways, guys! The fact is that if this were the regular season, Troy, Lamar, Hines, and every other starter would be out there working. There's just no point in having any of them push a sore knee or hammy right now. I think the only "significant" injuries are the ones Tomlin's keeping mum about (Stapleton) or the guys who need to be practicing in order to lock down roster spots (Harris, Nance, etc.). Other than that, its all just safekeeping for when the games start to matter.
but anyway, first Steeler game of the season in less than 48 hours. HERE WE GO

The Defense is older and needs more rest. The season can wear players out if they are worked too hard. Coaches adjust to what they have .
