A question about McFarlane Figures

For anyone who purchases McFarlane figures do you take them at of the package to display them or do you leave them in the package?

Before the recession when I could afford to, I would open the common (usually black jersey) and keep the variant closed (i've sinced opened and displayed all that I have collected.....except the JB Variant).

I know the hard core collectors will disagree with me, but why purchase them if you can't display them? If you buy because you love your team and you have the perfect spot for 'em, I say open them up!

If you're a collector and get more excited that you have the stash aging in a box in your attic, then.....

Anyway, that's my take.

i usually buy them from a retailer and keep them in the package. but then i'll go on eBay or some other toy retailer and buy the loos version (out of the package) so i have both to display. but i have toys from the early 90's still in the package. to me, they aren't consider "toys" until you take them out of the package and play with them. until then, they are "figurines" or "collectables." my girlfriend begs to differ...then she begs for her life when i threaten to choke her out! haha! KIDDING! i don't really do that, but we argue about it a lot.

Just from looking at these figures online it seems like you could enjoy them more out of the package then in the package.

I am still debating on whether to leave the ones I am purchasing in or out of the package.

I have Hines1 and Ben2 on my desk at work. All of the whites (SBXL) on one shelf at home and all of the legends (including the Bus and Faneca) on another shelf. I still need the last 2-3 that came out.

I forgot that I also have two Kendrell Bell's that I never opened. Not sure what to do with him.

Even buying them at toy stores will cost about $10 - $12 each, buy you can sometimes find deals on individual pieces so I wouldn't go more than $15 ea., or $60 (including shipping) for the 4 you mentioned...Unless there are variants.

and I'm with WarDen on not opening the Jerome Bettis...any of them, because they are probably the most valuable. Maybe the 1st variant Big Ben a close second. Those can go from $50 - $150.

i actually got them for $53 shipped which i think comes out to $13.25 each.
