Combine that with the fact that the Cardinals were never really all that great with the exception of last year, you probably have a pretty small fan base.

I'd venture to say there are more Steeler, Cowboy and Browns fans combined in the state of Arizona than actual Cards fans.

Hell, I recall in '07, I saw many orange and brown in the crowd on TV broadcasts, the exact same thing with the Steelers and terrible towels at the Steelers/Cards game.

Just thought I'd rant on that a bit..carry on.
dude that was a combination of sunburnt white people , mexicans, and bad color on your tv. ... stop trying to get us to believe the browns have a national following....

They probably had to comb pretty hard to find anyone who really even cared for a "voice on the street" for this article...the West Coast fans are super lackadaisical, soft-core and laid-back...most of them probably don't even know what tailgating is...

That's a dumb policy. Tailgating is awesome.

At LSU, some fans arrive Thursday or Friday and start tailgating. Then they come back after the game and tailgate some more.

More like about 2-3 weeks (mid-January to early February). 99% of their "fans" didn't give a shit until after they got by Carolina in the Divisional game.

Actually it appears this is more of an NFL plan than just a Cardinals plan.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/footb...er-sales_N.htm

Quote:
The NFL will try to crack down on binge drinking by fans at games during the 2009 season.

Following up on the Fan Code of Conduct it implemented last season, the league office is making recommendations to teams about maximum serving sizes for beer, wine and spirits sold at games and about the number of alcoholic drinks a customer can purchase at one time.

The league also is recommending that its 32 teams and 31 stadiums limit tailgating to 3˝ hours before games and attempt to better monitor and enforce rules against excessive drinking in stadium parking lots.
Whether it's trying to make the experience of an NFL game more fan-friendly; the theory that families with kids will spend more inside the stadium than tailgaters who bring their own food and drinks; wanting to avoid possible lawsuits from DUI's; the thought they can lower costs with less security if fewer people are drinking; or other reasons, it appears the NFL as a whole is headed in the direction of limiting the pre-game tailgating ritual.

Yeah, you're right...more like..an INTERNATIONAL following. :)

For the record, I did go to your hometown for a bit on my way for vacation. Pretty area, went to some place to grab some crab cakes, some Louisiana-style restaurant.

..and wouldn't you know it..first thing I see getting out of the car was some woman in a "Believeland" shirt.

She was probably on vacation herself.

Not true at all, Charger fans throw down when tailgating. Some of the best food, music and tailgating set ups you will ever see. Easily on par with the quality of tailgating at USC or OSU, save the cold rainy weather in Columbus during the fall.

At Candlestick, pretty good traveling for an away team,

LA isn't the whole west coast.

That looks like about 1/5th of a typical Heinz Field tailgate crowd...

You'll NEVER sell me that any crowd west of the Mississippi tailgates with any kind of real zeal (With a FEW exceptions in the SW, like Texas)...SEC, Big Ten, Midwest fans have football in their blood, and west coast fans just consider football an interesting diversion...for the MOST part.
