What will Mendy need to do this year to prevent us from making an offer to FWP?

Thought it would be an interesting question for this forum here. Lots of Willie haters, lots of people not yet sold on Mendy. So with FWP not being yet offered a contract past this year, what kind of a season (yards, TD, etc) would you need to see out of Mendy to make you comfortable NOT offering a contract to Parker. (Of course if Parker misses a lot of games hurt, all bets are off)

Did it ever occur to you that there are lots of RBs in the world that aren't Parker or Mendenhall? It doesn't have to be either-or.

RBs are cheap in free agency and late round draft picks can contribute.

If that is the case then then why dont we cut both and sign two of these guys who are available.

I think that if Mendenhall stays healthy this season, he'll be deemed the Steelers future RB thus allowing Willie Parker to test the free agent market. I don't have a problem with either of them, I've never hated on Willie and I have confidence that Rashard can fill in nicely.

I feel both can be good contributors to the O if they can BOTH stay healthy, but for me to choose Mendy over FWP at this point, he'd have to have pretty close to a 1,000 yard season and double digit TD's.

That is about the same here Mendenhall will have to have a good season but I don't know if he will knock off a 1000 yards sharing carries with Parker.

I can't wait to see them both run this season........Were not about fighting for the spot, we need 2 main guys.......Mendy is 22 and Willie is gettin up there so they will have to share carries more and more. WIllie won't be able to handle 300 plus carries anymore if he wants to extend his career which he will do.........Plus WIllie was hurt most of the year last year,coming off a broken leg the end of the season before......He will be ready to go 110%......He got healthy the last few games last year........Mendy gotta get his rythem going and all he needs is carries to progress......He still has alot to prove.....Hope he does so he can have a great career.......Melwede got a spot for his roles......He was great last year when he came off the bench........I think he is the most advanced runner we got......He does well in all phases of the game......I can't wait to see kcickoff next thursday......8 MORE DAYS!!!!
