Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher made a guarantee of sorts today.

But it is not the kind that will send Steelers fans into a tizzy even though it dealt with the somewhat sensitive subject of the Terrible Towel and what some of the Titans did to the iconic cheering prop in the waning moments of their 31-14, uh, stomping of the Steelers last December.

"Certainly they're not going to carry their own towels out there and stomp on them before kickoff," Fisher said of his players in regard to the Thursday night season opener at Heinz Field. "The players now understand the significance of the towel and the tradition behind the towel."

They did what some Steelers fans might consider akin to burning an American flag when a couple of them either stomped on a Terrible Towel or pretended to blow their nose into it.

While those antics turned into nearly as big a story as the beating the Titans gave the Steelers in what some had billed as a preview of the AFC title game, they won't have any bearing on the outcome Thursday night.

At least that is the stance the Steelers seem to have taken.

"It's not going to make us hit any harder," Steelers free safety Ryan Clark said. "It's not going to make us play any harder."

Indeed, what happened last season at LP Field in Nashville will provide much more fodder for sports-talk radio hosts than the players who will actually take part in the rematch.

"For us, it's about going out and playing football," Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said. "Our fans might not like (what happened in Tennessee) but they're allowed to, that's their job."

Ben is right. As fans, we are pissed the hell off about those lahooosers desecrating our TT, but in the grand scheme of things, our guys are going to be concentrating on their play and beating the Tites on their own merits.

Its good the players mindset is going out playing there game and winning. There not gonna go out there and take revenge or do anything stupid. Its our job to create the anger and drama, the Steelers well they just kick Titan ass.

Stomping on the TT only insures that Heinz field will be loud and wild for Thursday's game!
