Default Video conversion from AVCHD to DVD-Video

Attention all video Techies!

I am having some issues converting High Def video files from an HD Camcorder to standard DVD-Video format. The camera takes video in the AVCHD format. I can burn them to DVD to view on a Blu Ray player, no problem. The problem comes when I try to use my software to convert the AVCHD files to DVD-Video files so they can be viewed on a standard DVD player.

I think the problem is software related. I am running Nero 8 ultra and the software piece is called Nero Vision 5. It supposedly does this easily, but after I drop the files in the program and run the conversion, the resulting DVD-Video is missing video clips, has them out of order, or repeats videos. I also can't get them to act like chapters and fast forward through them.

I think Nero Vision 5 is buggy. Does anyone have any easy to use solutions to do this conversion??

Thanks in advance!!

Try CloneDVD. They have a free trial version good for 21 days.
I use it quite a bit to copy regular DVDs along with AnyDVD that breaks the copy protection. shhh don't tell any one.

CloneDVD as a stand alone works very well.

Never tried it myself, but I've heard good things about AVStoDVD, and it's open source:

Here's a good resource for what you need.

Well...I tried it out and it crashed before it started with all kinds of encoding errors. Not sure why. Nero Vision was at least able to convert the files to DVD-Video, although it jumbled them and dropped some.

Nah, it's fine. Thanks a lot for the post. It may be corrupt AVCHD files, too. Nero just may have skipped them. I haven't had a lot of time to troubleshoot.
