Default Disturbing defensive trend

Points allowed in the first three quarters of the last four games

7 - Super Bowl XLIII
7 - Week 1 vs. Tennessee
7 - Week 2 at Chicago
3 - Week 3 at Cincinnati

Points allowed in the fourth quarter of the last four games

14 - Super Bowl XLIII
3 - Week 1 vs. Tennessee
10 - Week 2 at Chicago
14 - Week 3 at Cincinnati

Bruce Arians ain't the only coordinator turtling up with a late lead.

The one thing I notice about the Defense is that the pass rush isn't getting there, I can accept that but as a pass rusher if you aren't getting near the QB why aren't they getting their hands up to change the passing lanes. The last two games have been dink and dunk, if you know the QB is getting rid of the ball quick why not just rush a little and then raise up your hands.

That's the trend that's bothered me. In the fourth quarter, the defense has been giving up long drives and points. I'm not sure what the reason is, but IIRC we rushed 4 almost the entire drive yesterday.

i think it was while i was watching the vikings game when i heard the announcer say that "no one in the NFL is using a prevent Defense. They've noticed that putting pressure on the QB is working better than relying on the coverage." apparently we didnt get the memo. ive never liked a prevent defense. maybe that is because im so spoiled with such great pass rushing LB's. i dont understand why we're playing a prevent w/o our best secondary man out there (no disrespect to Ike, he was fantastic yesterday as usual) while we have to animals at OLB. its alot harder to check down to your 3rd read in the flats when Woodley is breathing down your neck

Why is Arians mentioned in this thread at all? His JOB (and I'm positive this is under the direction of Tomlin) is to devise a plan late in the game that runs the ball to protect the leads and eats clock and plays field position and depends on the defense to get the opposing offense off the field so he can once again run the ball, eat clock and play for field position.

I agree with you bro! I didn't think we brought the heat very much at all yesterday, what are we running now a 3-4 tampa-2 or something???!!!
