Default Lynn Swann..... The Man With The Perfect Hands....

QUOTE (from archives): For nine seasons there was simply no such thing as a Lynn Swann-dropped pass. “I don’t care if they only throw one pass to me the whole game,” Swann once said. “I’ll make sure that I catch that one.” And as his legions of fans can attest, when he made one of his trademark spectacular game-winning catches, it was a thing of beauty. He was an impact player whose exciting play and career achievements earned him rave reviews and a permanent place in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
LYNN SWANN Wide Receiver
Swann, Lynn Curtis 5-11, 180 College: USC High School: Serra [Foster City, CA]
Born: March 7, 1952, Alcoa, TN
Drafted: 1974 Round 1 Pitt
Swann NEVER fumbled the ball his ENTIRE TIME with the Steelers...
He was considered the best WR of his time....
Swann retired from the NFL at only the age of 30.... and STILL made the Hall of Fame....
He is considered THE MOST RELIABLE RECEIVER OF ALL TIME.....
What can our WR's learn from this guy ???????
Oh yea.....also.... considered the best BIG GAME Receiver of all time....
With so many dropped passes witnesses by Holmes, Sweed (and yes, even a few by Ward) its sometimes good to go back and compare (when CB's could bump a receiver ANYWHERE on the field- WAY after 5 yrds....) what was accomplished when things were "A LOT " tougher.....

If only we had a couple of Receivers like this right about now..... Swann was (and still is) a measure of as close as you can get to perfection at WR....... if only he would not have retired at 30... who knows....

Really?

First year, 5 fumbles
Second year 4 fumbles
third year 0 fumbles
fourth year 1 fumble
eighth year 1 fumble

For a total of 11 fumbles in a 115 games played for an average of 1 fumble every 10 games.
Also, he touched the football only 411 times in his career, which averages out to one fumble every 37.36 touches.
http://www.pro-football-reference.co...S/SwanLy00.htm

By comparison, Homes has 257 touches also has 11 fumbles, for an average of 23.36 touches per fumble.

Hines Ward has 818 touches... ONLY 11 FUMBLES, for an average of 80.27 touches per fumble (MUCH BETTER than Swan when it comes to fumbling.

So in all honestly, if one could look ahead, when it comes to fumbling, Swan could have learned a few lessons from Ward.

Dang it Preacher. The grass is always greener on the other side of memory's fence. Why must you ruin it with facts and reality?

Yeah! Like when Da Bus would drag 15 defenders on his back for 8+ yards on every carry!

I love that play. I wish Arians would call that more.

Look, if you're going to call out these facts, please get them straight.

It was 20 defenders, plus the head coach, plus the refs, and it was 12+ yards on every carry!

I really despise people that can't use statistics properly!

That's why you need to fire Arians, trade/cut FWP and Mendenhall and bring back Kuhn!

CORRECTION:
Ha Ha.... my bad... apparently I was looking at the wrong stat column when I was examining... But I think the wearing of those gloves by WR's today is part of the problems responsible with so many dropped balls..... Swanny was ol' reliable here...

Any more drops like this, and you will be cut.
