Default OLB

harrison probably has 2 to 3 good seasons left in him. IMO, eric norwood is a type of harrison clone. i realize that there may be more pressing needs than an OLB, but he could be available in the 2nd round.

Eric Norwood, South Carolina
Height: 6-1. Weight: 255.
Projected 40 Time: 4.71.

9/12/09: There is no clear-cut favorite as the top rush linebacker in the 2010 NFL Draft, but that could quickly change if Eric Norwood continues to dominate his opponents like he did against N.C. State last week. Norwood finished with eight tackles, two TFL and two sacks. The Wolfpack didn't have much of an answer for him.

2/12/09: A monstrous pass-rusher, Eric Norwood collected 14.5 TFL and nine sacks as a junior.

Norwood played as a true freshman and had six sacks. He played defensive end his first two years at South Carolina and played linebacker in 2008. He had nine sacks, made first-team All-SEC at defensive end in 2008 and linebacker in 2008. Norwood has started 25 consecutive games and has great versatility as a player, can rush the passer or play coverage, plays hard every play and is a good character person. I wish her were a little taller, but he should be a good player for years and is a Pittsburgh-type player and good athlete.

I would never discount the possibility. He would look good in black and gold.

If the Steelers FO sticks to the BPA philosophy some of the players that could well be available come draft time in rounds 1 & 2 could be

Ricky Sapp
Greg Hardy
Brandon Graham
George Selvie
Jerry Hughes
Sergio Kindle
Brandon Lang
Eric Norwood

I think the 2010 draft needs to be one where the steelers invest for the future on D.

With the Steelers Defensive philosophy being extremely dependant on high quality OLB play a future replacement for Harrison or Woodley needs to be found in one of the next two drafts.

I dont think you will find many of us openly picking a OLB in rounds 1 or 2 in 2010 but none of us will complain if it happens.

( in 2010 i would gladly take the cheatriots approach last draft and have 4 2nd round picks. This could be a great draft to have a load of 2nd round picks. FS, OLB, SS, DE, DT or OT could be covered extremely well)

If we decide to go OLB that early there would be several kids to look at. You listed my 4 favorites
Brandon Graham
Brandon Lang
Eric Norwood
Sergio Kindle

But a local kid you should watch is Greg Romeus of Pitt. If he decides to come out, he would probably go in the 2nd and may be better that any of the 4.

A look at Texas A&M's Von Miller

By Kellis Robinett - Posted on 15 October 2009

Here's all you really need to know about Von Miller: He leads the nation in sacks.

Through five games, the junior from Desoto, Texas has tackled the quarterback in the backfield nine times and may well turn out to be the best pass rusher K-State sees all season.

Obviously, he is an explosive player. But it is his ability to do several things on the football field that sets him apart.

In his career at A&M he has been listed at both linebacker and defensive end, but right now he plays the hybrid "Jack" position.

From there he is able to act as a defensive end or linebacker on any given play and that frees him up to do what he does best.

He is being talked about as a possible All-America candidate and if he holds onto the national sack lead anything is possible.

As far as Kansas State is concerned, one thing is for sure: its offensive line will need to know where he is at all times.

has 10 sacks so far this year....

i beleive arnold harrison is backup OLB. if either woodley of Deebo got hurt i think timmons moves outside & fox moves inside. But i got to watch norwood and i was extremely impressed with him. Behindsteelcurtain yes we jsut signed Deebo to a deal but he is no spring chicken his replacement would sit and learn.

but i think we would go after a ILB or Safety before a OLB, but i could be wrong

sure did,,,don't change the fact that he'll be 32 next year. lets not forget woodleys contract isn't too far off. no guarantee they'll get a deal done with him in the next 2 years. are you that comfortable with arnold ?
