The Steelers have not allowed a 100-yard rusher in 24 straight games. Which NFL team has the longest active streak?

The Vikings, who have gone 29 consecutive games without allowing an opposing running back to surpass 100 yards. The last back to do so was Green Bay’s Ryan Clark, who ran for 102 on Nov. 11, 2007.

Since Mike Tomlin once coached in Minnesota, does today’s game have special meaning to him?

Other than the fact he’s trying to lead the Steelers to their fifth win of the year, no. Tomlin cherishes the 2006 season when he was the Vikings’ defensive coordinator. He was one of the first assistants hired by Minnesota coach Brad Childress. But it’s not as if Tomlin spent a long time in Minnesota. Plus, the Vikings were only

6-10 that year.

How many times has Brett Favre played in Pittsburgh?

Just once, on Nov. 9, 1998 when the Steelers beat the Packers, 27-20, at Three Rivers Stadium. In that game, Favre completed 22 of 39 passes for 234 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. He was sacked three times. Including three games in Green Bay, Favre is 2-2 against the Steelers. The last time the Steelers faced Favre was on Nov. 6, 2005 at Lambeau Field. The Steelers won 20-10. The turning point of that game was when Favre fumbled after being sacked by blitzing cornerback Bryant McFadden. Strong safety Troy Polamalu scooped up the ball and ran 77 yards for a touchdown.

Do any of the players involved in the “Love Boat “ scandal of 2005 still play for the Vikings?

There were 17 Vikings among the 90 or so people who attended the alleged sex party on two luxury boats on Lake Minnetonka. Three of those 17 still play for Minnesota — star defensive tackles Pat Williams and Kevin Williams, and tackle Bryant McKinnie. Also on one of the boats that day was Steelers running back Mewelde Moore, who was in his second season with Vikings at the time. Moore, however, is on record of saying that he knew nothing about prostitutes or strippers being hired for the party. “Oh no, none of that,” Moore said at the time. “Sex? What are you talking about? That’s crazy. Look, man. I’m engaged. That would put me in trouble.”

Historically, have the Vikings had many Beaver County area ties over the years?

Only one local player has ever played a game with the Vikings. That was former Beaver Falls High School star Dwight Collins, who spent the 1984 season in Minnesota. After playing college football at Pitt, Collins, a wide receiver, was taken in the sixth round of the ’84 draft by the Vikings. Collins played 16 games with one start and caught 11 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown. But Collins left the Vikings the following year over a contract dispute and never played another down in the league. In the 1968 draft, the Vikings drafted former Aliquippa star Tommy Sakal in the 10th round. But Sakal, a defensive back, never played a down as a pro. He spent 11 games of his rookie season on the Vikings’ taxi squad before getting drafted into military service. Another local connection with the Vikings is Coraopolis native Foge Fazio, the ex-Pitt head coach who served as Minnesota’s defensive coordinator from 1995-96 and as a defensive consultant in 2005.
