Wrap-up: Steelers 27, Vikings 17

The Pittsburgh Steelers made a huge statement to the rest of the NFL.

Despite some early-season losses, the Steelers can play with anyone and remain the defending world champs.

In a high-profile matchup that was as good as advertised, the Steelers needed two defensive touchdowns in the fourth quarter to hold on to beat the previously undefeated Minnesota Vikings, 27-17. The game marked Pittsburgh’s biggest victory of the season and ended Minnesota’s six-game winning streak.

The Steelers survived a wild fourth quarter that saw a 77-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Steelers linebacker LaMarr Woodley, followed by an 88-yard return for a score by Vikings receiver Percy Harvin on the ensuing kickoff.

Trailing by three points, Minnesota had another chance to tie or take the lead in the fourth quarter when Vikings quarterback Brett Favre threw a screen pass that was intercepted by Keyaron Fox, who rumbled 82 yards for a touchdown to seal the game.

The Steelers (5-2) have now won four in a row, which is currently the longest winning streak in the AFC North. Pittsburgh has a bye before traveling to Denver to play another undefeated team in the Broncos (6-0).

(In one of the Views from the Press Box I posted, http://forums.steelersfever.com/show...ight=statement the question was asked if the Defense was going to make a "statement" in this game. Well we know the answer to that question now. Now lets see them do it against the Denver Doncos in two weeks. - mesa)
