Default Stop and think about how blessed we are.

Stop and think about it, fellow Steeler fans - how blessed we've been.

The last 4 decades we've won:

20 Division titles (should be renamed 'the Rooney') That means we've won the division, on average, every other year!

7 conference titles - or one every 5 or so years

6 Lombardi's - or one every 7 or so years. 15 teams out there don't have ANY!

Put 19 men in the HoF.

Sent over 100 men to the probowl since 1953.

Have sold out every home game since 1972 and show no signs of letting up. Add to that the fact that we'll take over someone else's house. Fact: 2004 we put 20,000 Steeler fans into Texas stadium. SB XL? I only saw about 5 people in Seahawks jerseys. Tony Dungy, prior to the Indy playoff game actually came out publically and begged his own fans not to sell tickets to us.

Name another franchise that's done that. I dare you.

And don't underestimate our presence...that's crowd noise. It means that, at home, the opposing offense will have a hard time calling audibles. It means that, on the road, our offense will have an easier time calling audibles since there wont be as much crowd noise. (40,000 opposing fans yelling as opposed to 60,000).

Our darkest time as Steeler fans in modern history? The 1980's - when we still won a couple division titles. Once in while we have a losing season, but it's more of an aboration than the norm.

Winning is EXPECTED in Pittsburgh. We are the team others measure themselves against. "Every morning I come to work I walk past five Lombardi's, so I know the expectations" - Mike Tomlin, 2007. He must have gotten tired of seeing them and not having one himself.

Now look at other clubs....The Lions. 'Nuff said. Browns fans are planning a protest against their owner this Sunday. Bengal fans sing songs when they beat us. (?!)

Once proud championship franchises like the Cowboys and 49ers lie in disarray. No hope for a Lombardi for either of them any time soon.

I watch, as a Steeler fan, as other clubs rise, peak and fall back down to earth. Then I look at us and notice that we've been winning consistantly for fourty years.

FOURTY YEARS!

That's my entire life!

Coach to coach, GM to GM, QB to QB, RB to RB and even from one owner to another we keep winning.

We've kept the same philosophy since Chuck Noll - power defense combined with a solid offense.

We have the best owners, the best QB, the best defense, the best HC, the best DC - and we got the Terrible Towel.

What else could we want?

Besides another Lombardi, I mean.

Good post. The majority of fans of other teams WISH they had this stats. We were the first to 4 and now the first to 6... and we could be the first to 7 if we keep it up. Hines Ward promised they'd make it back this season... and you can't find a more reliable guy than Hines.

We have more fans nationwide than any other team in the NFL. Only 3 head coaches in the last 40 years. We were the first team in AFC history to 500 wins.

And the Cowboys fans are still pissed off.

We're extremely lucky to be fans of the best-run organization in football (maybe in professional sports). Very lucky.

Living in the Bay Area and watching what passes for football here has guaranteed that I will always, always be grateful to be a fan of a real team. Once the last decade of 49ers and Raiders games has been burned into your mind, it's not easy to forget.

I remember one time back in 2004 when the Steelers-Patriots game was on in the morning, and then in the afternoon it was the 49ers (2-14) against the Bears (5-11), a game that ended up something like 13-12, and a BAD 13-12 at that. Never has the difference been more apparent. After seeing a real, top-notch game in the morning, that game was completely unwatchable and I turned it off before halftime.

We were the first to win 3 Super Bowls. First to 4. Should have been first to 5.... everyone remembers that fiasco that called himself our QB against Dallas in that SB. First to 6.... and will be first to 7.... I can fill up an entire page with milestones made by the NFL's KINGS OF THE HILL..... Steelers, baby..... Steelers....
