Default Back to work after bye

It was back to work for the Steelers on Monday, returning after a five-day break thanks to their bye week.

“Had a good bonus day today, kind of getting started laying the foundation of our plan this week playing the Denver Broncos,’ said Coach Mike Tomlin. “We did some base blitz things, some seven-on-seven, some team.”

Tomlin was pleased with the approach taken at Monday’s practice, and feels the time off during the bye was needed.

“It’s good to be back at work,” said Tomlin. “I thought the guys were energetic, a much needed rest. It was a great break in the action for us. We are ready to get back on it and continue this journey that we are on.”

The players will be off on Tuesday, their normal day off during the week, and then it will be back to preparation for the Broncos on Wednesday, with another additional day to prepare for the Monday night game in Denver.

Running back Willie Parker was not at practice on Monday, sent home with an illness.

“He was running a fever so we sent him to the docs,” said Tomlin. “We didn’t want him to deliver anything to anybody else. I anticipate him being fine.”

Also missing practice were linebacker Lawrence Timmons (ankle) and defensive end Travis Kirschke (calf), who were both injured against the Minnesota Vikings.

“Both of those guys are questionable here at this point,” said Tomlin. “Again it’s the early part of the week. There is a little bit more optimism in regards to Lawrence than Travis at this point. We’ll let it play out as we always do.”

The Steelers signed tight end Eugene Bright to their practice squad and released tight end Kevin Brock.

I'm not so worried about Parker. Probably the flu and he'll be OK by game time. Kirschke and Timmons we need
at this point. We can't afford to loose these guys for even one game IMO.

I love our depth. If Timmons can't go then Keyaron Fox will step in and we won't miss a beat. If Kirschke can't go I think it's time for a little Ziggy Hooodddd

Timmons will play. Eason will start if Kirschke can't.

Book it Dano.
