Default Murphy's Military Law

Received this from a army buddy of mine and i thought i would share ( he is a bengals fan so we had a lot of fun and still do)

Murphy's Military Law

1. Never share a foxhole with anyone braver than you are.

2.Friendly fire isn't.

3.The most dangerous thing in the combat zone is an officer with a map.

4.Incoming fire has the right of way.

5. The army with the smartest dress uniform will lose.

6. If your sergeant can see you, so can the enemy.

7. Don't be conspicuous. In the combat zone, it draws fire. Out of the combat zone, it draws sergeants.

8. If you really need an officer in a hurry, take a nap.

9. The quartermaster has only two sizes, too large and too small.

Good stuff.

Quick story along the same lines:

1994 - Operation Cobra Gold in Thailand.
Hot afternoon, Cpl Terry Adams (USMC) parks the M813 (6x6) in front of the HQ building. He runs in for an errand; comes out to find a cobra (yes the snake) between he and his truck.

Quick thinking Cpl. Adams grabs one of those large painted rocks (you know.., the ones that line the walkways and parking lots of virtually every base) and BAM! One shot; one kill. Kudos Cpl. Adams, kudos.

Unfortunately for our hero, it is at about this same time that a 1st LT comes walking out of HQ and commands, "HEY! PUT THAT ROCK BACK!"

True story.

"Don't salute the Captain, especially when I am standing next to him. It draws attention for the snipers." Saving Private Ryan (Not exact quote, but close enough)

(Navy issue rules of thumb)
#10) You have to go out. You don't have to come back.
#11) Always remember that your equipment was procured from the lowest bidder.
#12) Marine detachments are less conspicuous than sheep.
#13) If God tells you to do one thing and your Chief tells you to do another, you'd best hope God is forgiving.
#14) If the Navy wanted you to have a wife, they would've issued you one.

Navy Yeoman to the Marine:
"Remember who signs your paychecks Marine. You guys ARE a Department of the Navy."
The Marine to the yeoman:
"That is correct. We are the Men's Department."
