Two homeless men have been arrested for allegedly raping and robbing a 13-year-old girl they met at a Gilroy park.

Gilroy police say the victim met Cresencio Eberardo Blas, 29, and Benancio Quinones Leon, 49, at Christmas Hill Park about 6 p.m. Wednesday.

She subsequently spent several hours talking to the two men, who had been living in a homeless encampment adjacent to the creek.

During the encounter, police said the suspects then gave the Gilroy teenager various intoxicants and without warning began sexually assaulting her several times, according to police. She, somehow, managed to escape and summon help.

After police were notified, she identified the suspects and was treated at a medical facility.

As police searched the suspects, they found one of the suspects with the victim's property.

Blas and Leon are being held at Santa Clara County Jail on various felony charges. If convicted of the crime, they face potential life in prison.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Gilroy Police detective Martin Beltran at 408-846-0334. Those wishing to remain anonymous may call 408-846-0330.

Why was she spending "several hours" talking to them in the first place?
