Default Let's be fair....................

Arians is taking a lot of flack about todays game. I for one will second guess some of his decisions but lets be fair. We totaled 515 total yards today. We threw 44 times with 33 completions for 401 yards, we ran 31 times for 114. That is not as big of discrepancy as some would have you think. And as far as saying we wore our defense down by making them stay on the field, check this out. Time of possession 44 minutes to 22 and one half minute. Listen as much as we like to pride ourselves on tough football (running and defense) we just did not step up defensively in the second half. I would like to add that in being fair we have to be fair about some of the scores the defense gave up due to turnovers. I hate losing, I hate for my beloved Steelers to lose, especially to a team we clearly are better than, especially one we dominated statistically. The bottom line is we lost the turnover war today, gave up big plays on defense and left points once again on the field due to either turnovers, penalties or mental mistakes. We can right this ship and IF we make playoffs we will be the team no one wants to play.

Excellent assessment and I agree across the board.

Granted the offense moved the ball, but the turnovers killed us. Putting that aside though, do you honestly feel going into any game that the offense is going to win it. I believe that the Steelers have the basic talent on offense to be a great one, but something seems to be missing. There just doesn't seem to be any consistency.

We lost the turnover battle, had stupid penalties all game long, and had poor execution. Stats don't mean a thing when you play that style.

We seem to be stuck in this cycle of "If so-and-so had just done this in that one play" cycle. If Ben had seen ward, if clark caught that int, if BA had not called that play, if the ST had stopped that return.

It just seems that good teams can cover the lapses of other plays that go poorly.

We have more talent than most teams. There seems to be a systemic issue. I love Tomlin, and hope he gets those ducks in a row soon. Some one needs a come to Jesus meeting, IMO.

I agree we are not hitting on all cylinders on offense, that is what is frustrating. We could be a 30 point a game team, and still have a great defense. But I still thinks it's a little unfair to blame every loss on our O, the defense has to be accountable too. There was three teams that won today with pass/run ratios as follow GB 45/32, DET 43/17 and Giants 39/26 so to say that Arians called PASS,PASS,PASS is not being fair.

I've been saying all season that our offense is a HEMI V-8 with a bad spark plug. Yeah, it's still powerful, but the engine idles rough, hesitates and backfires, has wastefully-rich exhaust emissions, and overall is not as efficient or as productive as it should be. I stand by that assessment.

By the way, if the offense ain't gonna change their habits, then the least they can do is practice transitory defense during the week. Maybe then the won't allow damn near every turnover to be taken to or near the house.
