Default The ONE Thing Big Ben Can Learn "From" Dixon...

After having 26 pass attempts in the game against the Ravnes.... Dixon had 0, zero, none, zilch........................... SACKS.......... Against a Defense like the Ravens... and for someone who came into this game with only 1 pass thrown in the NFL.... that's pretty impressive

He also completed less than 50% of his passes and had several nearly picked....

We ran the ball more vs the Ravens....thus not allowing the Ravens to just pin their ears back and go after the QB...knowing full well that we were going to pass.

It's amazing how a running game can make your opponents hesitant. If they have to respect the run, that also helps protect the QB when he does throw.

I think this game only further supports that we need to be a more balanced offense w/ the run and pass.

That's true, because the Ravens did the same exact thing (although the Steelers pass rush was much more effective). But being able to run the ball is more important than just calling running plays. Mendy rushed for what, 92 yards? That's effective enough to disrupt any team's pass coverage.

on 24 carries.

The battle up front was clearly won by the steelers. I have no doubt the Ravens coaches were terrified that we would just run the ball down their throats late in the 4th and in OT. Luckily for the Ravens we didn't exploit that when we should have.

Dixon threw it away. Ben hardly ever does. This does help Ben's completion percentage quite a bit. When you've got a QB like Big Ben you just have to get used to taking sacks instead of throwing the ball away. It's just what he does, and it pays off a lot of the time.

Only thing Ben needs to learn in his career now is to throw the ball away sometimes. Otherwise he will not have a career beyond 10 years.

Or at least mix it up a bit more.
