In 1982 for the Steelers 50th season, the Pittsburgh Post gazette announced the all-time Steelers team. Who would you change now? 75th season will be here in a few years, so we`ll get a jump on the Post.
1982. QB - Terry Bradshaw 70-81 RB - Franco Harris 72-81 no changes yet RB - Rocky Bleier 70-80 Bettis here WR - Lynn Swann 74-81 WR - John Stalworth 74-81 does Ward fit in anywhere? TE - Elbie Nickel 47-57 I`ll take thier word for it. OT - Jon Kolb 69-81 Kolb stays OT - Larry Brown 71-81 should have been at least on the HOF ballot G - Sam Davis 67-79 G - Gerry Mullins 71-79 Faneca anywhere ?? C - Mike Webster 74-81 R.I.P. Dawson was also an animal But Webster P - Pat Brady 52-54 only three season PK - Roy Gerela 71-78 Gerelas Gorillas are here for the show LB - Jack Lambert 74-81 Lamberts Lunatics will always be on the list LB - Jack Ham 71-81 LB - Andy Russell 66-76 this is the toughest category, Lylodd ?? DT - Mean Joe Greene 69-81 written in stone DT - Ernie Stauntner 50-63 DE - L.C. Greenwood 69-81 DE - Dwight White 71-80 CB - Jack Butler 51-59 I`m sure he was great, BUT, Woodson?? CB - Mel Blount 70-81 another HOF S - Donnie Shell 74-81 S - Mike Wagner 71-80 maybe Carnell Its tough, let everyone know what you think. Its easy to see why we didn`t win another ring after the 81 season, everyone was gone.

I think Lake and Woodson have to be there. Looking at the LB position is tough. We've had some great ones. Lloyd has to be considered and so does Kevin Green. Give Troy a few more years and we'll have another safety to talk about. What do you think about Lipps at WR? He put up some good numbers on some bad teams. Would have liked to seen him on a good team. I think the toughest for me to decide is between Dawson and Webster. They were both great players and played for long periods of time.

I don`t think Kevin Greene played in the Burgh long enough.
Loius Lipps just didn`t have a great team around him, no qb.

QB- Terry Bradshaw, 1 qb = 4 rings
RB- Franco Harris RB- Jerome Bettis, sorry Rocky but I think even you would give him a spot WR- Lynn Swann WR- John Stallworth, Hines needs more stats or rings(name hines best big stage game?) TE- Elbie Nickel [notes for younger guys - put up 2211 yards from 52-54] OT- John Kolb OT- Larry Brown - both too solid to replace OG- Sam Davis OG- Alan Fanaca, will pass Mullins in years played I think, giving us 2 great running guards C- Mike Webster, Dawson was great(288 and kept up with pulls and RBS, but Webster was small and smart 6'1 and 250, plus he handled line calls and helped Terry[k-a-t] call plays. P/K - I say forget the punter and put Roy and Gary Anderson on. These are the only two kickers I can remember. LB- Jack Lambert LB- Jack Ham LB- Andy Russell, Lloyd made plays with his strength, Andy never missed cause of his brain DT- Joe Greene DT- Ernie Stauntner, won't move since we do the 3-4 now(not enough credit given to Hampton, Steed, etc) DE- L.C. Greenwood DE- Dwight White CB- Jack Butler - Woodson will be HOF, but his 10 years = 38 int w/ PIT Butler's 9 = 52(I hate this, but the list is all time Steelers) CB- Mel Blount S- Donnie Shell S- Mike Wagner, I don't put Lake in cause he had 16 picks, Wagner had 36 in the same time. Imagine what it would take to double your pick total in your career. Plus he was the hardest hitting clean player then.

That's a great team. The defense is frightening. I can only put one Patriot on there for sure, right now. Depending on what Brady does over the next few years, I might take him over Bradshaw. That would be two. Mike Hynes is another that I might put on that team, even though he finished as a Raider.
Oh, what Patriot is better than anything you have at that position? John Hannah, guard. Hannah and Jim Parker, Balt. Colts, are the two best guards to have stepped onto a football field. |

One kicker I might take over Roy is Matt Bahr, I do believe he got a ring with us.
Brady over Bradshaw, get real, give Jersey his bong back.
