A first round draft bust and a 35 year old defenseman, reach for the stars Patrick, reach for the stars..........

With the exception of Crosby, who hasn't really? The scary part, Patrick was quoted as stating that he would like to say on as the GM with the new Penguins ownership.

If I could be positive about this trade, I could say Rita could be another Naslund maybe? But that doesn't happen to this franchise (not in the last fifteen years anyways), we normally give away the "busts" only to watch them get better under new management. Picking up a thirty-five year old defenseman still doesn't make any sense to me at all.

The Oilers also traded Tony Salamalanien to Chicago for Jaroslav Spacek. Two decent pick-ups to add to a pretty good blueline with Pronger, Staios, Bergeron, and Smith

He had his run but needs to go... His recent personal decision have made no sense at all. Crosby is still young and cant be expected to lead the team IMO. The one thing I liked was picking up Cains. We needed an enforcer. Someone to clear the net. The only guys that have played well are Crosby, Whitney, Christianson, and Oullet. Maybey we should let these young guys get seasoned. At this point its like the WB/Scraton Penguins playing in the NHL...

Christensen was sent down to WBS/Scranton. Hopefully he can get out of Therrien's doghouse. For some reason his game dropped.

Whitney. While he is still young, the kid can't hit the broadside of a barn from what I have seen. He tends to pinch up at the wrong times resulting in a good number of two on ones. Hopefully this former first round pick (5th overall) matures into a solid defenseman with a scoring touch in the near future.

Quellet is a player that has stepped up his play in the pro's. His game is simple, get in front of the net and the goals will come.

The one forward that I'm down on this season is Konstantin Koltsov. I was high on this kid his first year here. I felt his brain and hands needed to catch up to his feet, but eventually would bloom into a gem. He has not done that to this day. Zero goals this season is not cutting it. I felt his speed could be deadly in the "new" NHL. But If you can't hit the net or even get the chances, speed is pointless.

Side Note : 1-0 Isles over Pens in the 1rst
