I live in a small college town, Ellensburg, WA, and after all of us here changed our skivies at the end of the panthers game in disbelief, the town was booming everywhere with fireworks and screams. If you can imagine a 30 yr build up of emotion when they are finally going to the super bowl exploding at once across the state. So this whole "seahawk fans are few and far between and have no passion like us purist steeler fans" needs to be put to rest people. You have no idea what it's like to wait this long; granted it really almost makes hawk fans more passionate about this years super bowl...it's our first one ever!

In western PA, football is life, so of course we've got it plastered everywhere you turn. The effects can even be strongly felt 300 miles away over here in the Philly area.

Seattle just ain't a football town. That's fine. I love Seattle for creating one of my great addictions... Star Bucks!

Thank you Seattle!

Senate Passes Gay Rights Bill

POSTED: 8:21 am PST January 27, 2006
UPDATED: 12:16 pm PST January 27, 2006

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A gay civil rights measure passed the state Senate on Friday, a major victory for gay rights activists who have watched the measure fail in the Legislature for nearly 30 years.

The bill passed on a 25-23 vote, with a lone Republican joining majority Democrats.

The measure adds "sexual orientation" to a state law that bans discrimination in housing, employment and insurance. Sixteen states have passed similar laws for gays and lesbians; six of those states have passed laws for transgendered people.

Sen. Bill Finkbeiner, R-Kirkland, was the lone Republican to endorse the measure, a year after it lost by just one vote in the Senate. Two Senate Democrats voted against the measure.

Because the bill was amended this week in the Senate, it now goes back to the House, which has said it would agree with the changes. It could be on Gov. Chris Gregoire's desk by the end of the day, and the Democratic governor is expected to sign it into law.

The measure passed the House last week on a 60-37 vote, with six Republicans joining 54 Democrats in supporting the bill.

I guess this gives new meaning to the term "Smashmouth"
