Default Are they going to expand Heinz Field?

It is a very small football field, and I think the Steelers can afford to expand, not the biggest of worries ,but still seems important. Cowboys Stadium can hold 105,000 people, while Heinz can only hold 65,000.

Can they narrow it instead - at least in the secondary?

Where would they expand it? Close off the open-air end, and thus taking away the beautiful sightline? Add more seats to the top?

There just doesn't seem to be a good way to add more seats, in my opinion. Plus, when you start getting into the 90,000+ numbers for people, the quality of the stadium goes down. FedEx seats around 100,000 and all you hear about is how awful the experience is because there are so many people and so many lines, traffic issues, etc.

I think they could join the one end in the upper decks and add some seats and still leave the open end with the magnificent view of the city. Make it like a horsehoe with one open end and wouild get them closer to 70K capacity which is plenty... Just my 2 cents....

64,450 exactly
And there is just no where to add extra seating. You can't take out and add higher to the open end that looks out to the city or water and the high level ends are already high enough.

About 20,000 of those Cowboys "seats" are standing room only "Party Pass" tickets with no view of the field. Some actually stood outside and watched on a monitor. They also squeeze in extra by sliding all the seats closer together and adding a seat or two extra on each row. Not to mention that the upper tier is so high up - and out - that they have no choice but to just watch the main video panel.

I'd much rather have a traditional dedicated football stadium where the fans are compelled to be more involved in the game.

.... and fill it with fans smart enough to know that if you just look at the field - it is in 3D all the time - even without the goofy glasses.
