Default 12 of 16 AFC teams still alive for playoffs

....just some salt in the wound.

only the bills, raiders, chiefs, and browns are eliminated and have no shot.

12 afc teams sitting at 7-7 or better.

on the flip side is the NFC where the top 4 slots are secure and only 3 remaining teams have a shot. one of green bay, dallas, or the giants will not make it. other than that, we know who is going.

what a strange year. anyone notice anything eerily suspicious about the 4 afc teams that are already eliminated?

we should thank our lucky stars we got to face teams like the vikings and chargers instead of the bills (or else we woulda likely been the 5th team added to that list).

oh, and another crazy stat i heard.... in the last 9 superbowls (total of 18 teams) like only 4 have been the #1 seed. only 1 number one seed has won it all (2003 patriots).

odds say a #6 seed has a better chance of winning it all in the new millenium (giants, steelers).

fwiw a #2 seed has won it the most.

After Sunday, just wait and see how many of those teams fall, making the picture look clear as day.

Hopefully we aren't one of those one's to drop.

Either a lot of teams in the AFC are simply mediocre, or the NFC really blows.

I'll take the latter.

Does anybody know if this is a must win game for the Ravens or do they control their own destiny with just one win in their last two games?

What is even more odd is this:
Titans started 0-6 are in it
Broncos started 6-0 and are almost out of it
Chargers started 2-3 and won their division
Steelers . . . well 5 wins in a row, 5 losses in a row . . . lost to some of the worst, beat some of the best, looked like a dominant team, looked like the worst team . . . who knows what they will do!
Bengals have a good defence, Steelers and Ravens Def is suspect

This has certainly been an odd year in the AFC.

If Baltimore loses to the Steelers and then beats Oakland, chances are they still make the playoffs (thanks, Denver). If they win both, they are the definite #5 seed.

Excellent post!

Odd? I say it's more surreal than odd. Like something Timothy Leary would have dreamt up. Or Cheech and Chong.

If the Ravens lose a game they can be bumped out. Mainly if the dolphins finish ties with them, I believe the Dolphins get the tie breaker.

Unless Baltimore implodes the last two, they will make it, you guys have nothing to worry about, even if you DO lose to us Sunday, you still control your own destiny with a loss. Oakland has been the underdog team this year taking good teams down and being the ultimate spoiler, but I expect Baltimore to take it to them, atleast gaining the 5th spot.

I think it's going to be a 3 way dance. Pitt, Den and Balty at 9-7. Balty and Pitt get in.
