Default 4th Quarter Woes a Conditioning Issue?

Not saying an axe on Giemont is the answer, but did our age and last years success hamper the way we went about conditioning? Did we not look tired? While I can entertain the masses' opinions on us being "out-coached" I can't help but think of those 4th quarter/OT debacles.

On a few occasions members of the D have mentioned poor on field communication.

Teams got the book on the Steelers. Tomlin caught on too late.

Naaaaaaaaaaahhhh..........the sad condition of the secondary was the main deal. has been for years...settled down with McFadden. Lost him....back to the stinker in the back of the D. Troy needs to be healthy...need at least one shut down corner. Aint got none....and yer done.

Age is an issue, but play calling is an issue too. The defense was playing too conservative with 4th quarter leads. Not blitzing as much, trying to prevent the big play, but they allowed teams to march down the field with runs and short passes. 10+ play drives can wear down a defense full of 30+ year olds.
Dick LeBeau is to blame, the Steelers haven't had a offense that puts points on the board since 2005, so I'm sure he's forgotton how to call plays when they are in the lead every game.

Well said, it's understandable that Dick hasn't been in a situation like what we had this season. Crazy to think that with the offensive firepower - Two 1,000 yard receivers, 1,000 yd. rusher - we would be in the hunt for an offensive coordinator.

I just can't believe all that I am looking forward to now is the draft. Seems like only yesterday.......

Gonna be honest, couldn't care less about the playoffs.

Anyone have a countdown for the draft?

You think so? Weakness in our D? The fact is we're getting old up front except for Woodley. Even James Harrison is no spring chicken. I think it 2 things,
1. Age is a factor.
2. Poor conditioning.

Hines sleeps in that (whatever you call it) hyperbolic chamber and he plays at his age and plays like hell.
Maybe these older guys need to look at the most advanced training methods.
After saying this look at how Troy trains and he's been hurt all year.
So I guess I'm saying what the hell do I know!!!
