Default 3rd round picks....

Ive been reading this site for a long time but never actually got around to posting anything. I get pretty ridiculous come draft time. Checking websites with mock drafts is, futile, but a whole lot of fun to speculate That being said, Anyone else think the Steelers would be interested in/will be able to pick these players:

Toby Gerhart- I know that we have a great stable of running backs now but with the potential of losing/releasing Willie Parker and not having a solid N/S running back, I really like this player. He has a great attitude and IMHO would really help in the short yardage situations.

Selvish Capers- 6'5" and 300 lbs. Selvish Capers is the starting LT for the Mountaineers. Very athletic and runs 4.8-4.9 40. During his time at WVU. the Mountaineers have ranked as high as 3rd in the nation in rushing offense. He covered Pat White's blindside during his senior year. He also made huge gaps for Noel Devine the last two seasons. He is a All Big East second team player and has a tremendous upside.

Pat Angerer- Pat's an ILB out of Iowa. Plays with a mean streak and could provide depth/future replacement for James Farrior.

Sergio Kindle- projected as an OLB from Texas. He is a raw talent but could develop into a great talent. He also provides depth at a position were there isnt a whole lot.

Some other players I like are Corey Wooton, DE from Northwestern; Micah Johnson ILB from Kentucky; and maybe in the later rounds Reed Williams ILB West VIrginia!

Who do you all think would be the best pick for the Steelers in this round?

Ridiculous as in, not like the rest of us sensible people? You come to the right place.

The one player that I don't think will be there in the 3rd round is Kindle. He was one of the bright spots for Texas in their bowl game, and pass rushers are highly valued in this league.

Which of these players would you most like to see in the Black & Gold?

As much as I dont think we need a RB that high.....I would pick Gerhardt in the 3rd. Mostly because I think Kindle will be gone by the 3rd, Angerer might be a 4th round pick (I like his instincts, but question his quickness and speed to the ball) and Capers is more of a project that I am not sure warrants a 3rd round grade. Capers is athletic(converted TE), but I would want to make sure he can put more weight on his frame as he is more of a 295 lb zone blocking OT.

I would rather have Micah Johnson if he is there.

I would say, from what you have there, that Gerhart is a solid 3rd rounder. If we go after him... that's another question. Even without Parker, we already have a big mix of RB's. Although, they may not be the of the caliber of Gerhart.

Agree with others that Micah Johnson would be a good alternate LB in the 3rd.

If we don't land an Earl Thomas in the 1st, I think it would be safety for me. With possibilities of Reshad Jones, Darrell Stuckey or even an early reach for Harry Coleman.

And, I would also be fine with Matt Tennant, or Torell Troup if they last.

I would go w/ ILB Micah Johnson....I think if he had not gotten injured he would not of fallen into the 3rd round.....but that's just my opinion.....

I tend to agree that the Steelers do need help in the defensive backfield but seeing as Tomlin is a former DB coach, I would imagine that he will likely address this issue in the first two rounds. IMHO, which could be way off, the steelers will probably try take a safety (thomas, mays, etc.) in the first. Then, in the second, I think they will go for the best blend of BPA/need. I have a feeling that if Brandon Spikes or Sean Weatherspoon slips into the second round the FO wont be able to help themselves. This is why I think the Steelers will likely take the BPA and I really think that would be Toby Gerhart. I promise I wont pull the whole "next Jerome Bettis" thing but I do believe he would compliment Mendenhall nicely. Selvish Capers is a raw prospect but his body of work at WVU is impressive. Pat Angerer is considered more of a run stuffer than anything, kind of like Larry Foote, but seeing as I have already mocked an ILB I think they'll go another direction. I too like Micah Johnson but im hesitant to take a player coming off a big injury, but thats just me.

P.S. I much prefer the war room because I literally cant hear the name Bruce Arians one more time or I might have an aneurysm. From now on i'll simply refer to him by his office.

I also like Marshawn Gilyard if by some freak chance he slips to us that late in the draft...

we dont need toby gehart he looks like a complete fool. I don't think he will be good in the NFL all he is going to be is a goal line back, what's the point in spending a pick that high when we have redman who we got undrafted lol... Kindle would be nice but i think he could go first round.
