...pittsburgh were the afc #1 seed and the seahawks were the #6 seed in the nfc?

(keep in mind the same personnel, and that the seedings really have no outbearing of the game at this point)

It still depends on the road to the game through the playoffs. I think the main thing is we beat the No. 1,2,3 seeds. If we were a 1, and seattle came through the NFC minor league ranks, it would be closer to a pick game.

I don`t think seattle should take us being favored as a insult. Everybody jumps on the bandwagon as you go. It was Indy`s year, we took care of them, then it was Denver to win it all.

Two of the best teams , that are healthy and peaking make the big dance. Seattle had the easy route through the playoffs two home games against a terrible redskins team and carolina.

We went into everyone house and crushed everything in sight,

Steelers 27 seattle 10 write it down

I don't think most of us in Seattle are insulted by the spread. Deep down I think most athletes and fans prefer to be considered the underdog. And the Steelers did have a much tougher row to hoe in the playoffs. Since the media had preordained the Colts as the SB champs months ago, we have to expect that whoever else beat them in the AFC would be favored if they were still healthy.

Plus we also feel like a lot of the nation doesn't know much about our Hawks out in our little corner of the nation. (Do you think that is accurate?) I think its natural to be putting money down on the team you know better and that effects the line.

The Steelers have proven more through the playoffs so far but that is not because the Hawks have played poorly. They just haven't had the opportunity to face the adversity the Steelers have yet. And that shouldn't be mistaken for meaning the Hawks aren't possibly the better team.

And I can't wait for Sunday when the better team gets to prove it.

Well, I think the point spread would be 2 touchdowns in the scenario you started the thread with. The reason why the Steelers are favored now is because the AFC is considered a stronger conference by most, and are looking at their streak, rather than the first half of the season. So if the Steelers were coming in as a number one seed, and the Hawks as a number 6 seed, I think the Hawks would be totally written off as a fluke in such a case. Now can we start counting angels on pinheads?

Well, if Pittsburgh were in the NFC they would be number 1 seed easily. If Seahawks were in the AFC, I doubt they make the playoffs. New England, Denver, Indy, San Diego and Possibly Cincinnati are all better then they are.... damn... even Jacksonville is better than they are.

Imagine if Ben is healthy all year. Pittsburgh is easily #1 or 2 seed. Spread doubles if that were the case.
