Default Best QB match-up in SB history

the main reason i was rooting for the colts and the vikings (just slightly over the saints) is i thinK GOING INTO THE GAME, it wouldve been the best mach-up of some of the best qb's we have ever seen.

manning vs favre

so it got me thinking, and there have been alot of GREAT head-to-head qb match-ups for the big game.

now manning vs. brees is still 2 great qb's. but can anyone say RIGHT NOW that drew is a first ballot HOFer?

going into the game, without a doubt, manning and favre are both 2 of the greatest of all time and sure best into the hall of fame.

bradshaw vs. staubach im sure will top manys lists, but both were still closer to the middle of their careers, and i have no idea what the perception of their HOF status was going into sb 13.

montana vs. marino- in retrospect this can easilly be seen as the best match-up but marino was a young unknown pup, beginning his career, and montana had yet to become a legend.

montana vs. elway i think by the time they matched up it was pretty obvious both would be in the hall of fame, but at that point elway was nothing more than a sb choker, and the blowout further enforced that. it wasnt till the end of his career that he sealed his legacy.

aikman vs. kelly while i think they both got in on their 1st ballot, at the time they played, im not sure anyone knew aikman would get in.

brady vs. warner people say brady is a first ballot but i think he is a cheating dick. the debate is still out on if warner even makes it. but the fact is, that when they met in the sb nobody had any clue that they would even be talked about in 10 years.

i would love to add ben and warner to this list, but just cant. the jury is still out whether they even get in. wont add simms and elway either, nor tarkenton and bradshaw. am i forgetting anyone?

while i am happy for the saints and they deserve to be there more than the vikings, i would say in todays game there arent any 2 players that have had more successful careers than favre and manning.

on paper, i think that sb woulda represented greatness, and as a football fans, slightly feel robbed like when barry sanders retired far too early.

This one tops my list. They were both locks for the HoF by SB XIII and were the field generals of the two best teams in the league (by far) at the time.

Brees isn't a hall of famer, but he has great accuracy...

and that is exactly the point of this thread. while brees isnt a hall of famer right now, when all is said an done he could easilly go down as a first ballot guy (especially if he wins in 2 weeks).

after all he did break kenny andersons accuracy record, and damn near broke marinos yardage records in successive years.

there is no doubt, however that manning and favre are first ballot hall of famers.

i think fansince is correct. bradshaw vs. staubach are the closest the nfl has seen to what manning/favre woulda been. they are to their era what manning and favre are to theirs (w/o all the league mvp awards, yet with more championship titles).

that game lived up to the billing and is still one of the most watched programs ever. i hope this game lives up to the billing too. i think it will.

and while i think manning/ favre woulda been the greatest matchup ever, something tells me that romo vs. roethlisberger woulda earned even higher ratings (easilly the highest ever).

How 'bout that Kerry Collins vs. Trent Dilfer matchup back at the beggining of the decade?

Seriously Elway vs. Favre would have to be way up on the list.

I'm partial to the Brad Johnson/Rich Gannon shootout in Super owl XXXVII. Epic win.

TB vs. Joe Cool, would be the uber QB matchup, and you only get one guess.

I'm sorry but in all NFL history. the reigning "Julius (freekin') Ceasar of Quarterbacks" who is none other than our very own past, (no guess' needed) Terry Bradshaw, pitted against the quiet-rebel Gaul King who eventually brought Rome to its knees, is the only Gladitatorial game in town still. :)
Why ?!, 'cause the only 2 starting players in all NFL history to ever sport 4 Rings each, and both happen to be SB QB's, are these 2 slobs.

cheers.

ok, I know what you're really asking here, and sry to waste your present Fantasy Football time, but I just had to say it. :)
