Mendenhall runs away with Most Improved Steeler Award

After breaking his Collarbone early in the 2008 Super Bowl season Critics were labelling the most hyped Running Back aside from Darren McFadden in the 2008 Draft "A Bust". Mendenhall was out to prove them wrong this season and did just that.

In his first full season as a starter he rushed for over 1000 yards and had 7 touchdowns and 11 fumbles. The Fumbles stat is deciving as he fumbled 6 of them receptions and also added four touchdowns through the air.

"Thanks to the Fans who voted me in for this *thumps chest* I'm just gonna keep improving enough to get better and better each year"

Free Agency:William Gay

After the 2008 Super Bowl winning season Bryan McFadden left to join the Arizona Cardinals for $5M a year.

The Steelers were left with William Gay who had impressed them during the 2008 season.

The Steelers secondary in 2009 was the worse it had been all decade apart from 2006. It only achieved 10 interceptions, the lowest in the league. Ike Taylor and William Gay combined for a misely two interceptions.

Will He Return? He most likely will return cheaply. He led all Cornerbacks in tackles and had the most pass defelections in the league.

William Gay

Tackles:75
Interceptions:1
Sacks:1
Forced Fumbles:1
Fumble Recoveries:1
Deflections:24
Catches Allowed:33

Bryan McFadden

Tackles:18
Interceptions:4
Sacks:0
Forced Fumbles:0
Fumble Recoveries:0
Deflections:6
Catches Allowed:18

The financial results for the 2009 season have been released.

The Pittsburgh Steelers ended up making a profit, clearing almost $85.0M despite going 8-8 and missing the playoffs after a Super Bowl winning season just a year before.

The Oakland Raiders are likely to release Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha due to problems with the money cap.

Pittsburgh are one of the many teams interested that recorded a league low 10 interceptions during 2010.
