2010 NFL Week 2 - Game Report

New York Jets (1-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0)

New York Jet off to a 2-0 Start, score 13 in final quarter

Darrelle Revis restricted Hines Ward to just nineteen yards

Box Score
- 00 - 00 - 03 - 13- 16

- 07 - 03 - 00 - 03- 13

PITTSBURGH, PAŚ

It was over when...
With 1:28 remaining in the final quarter Jay Feely booted a 21 yard field goal to put the New York Jets up 16-13. ... With two seconds left Jeff Reed missed a 46 yard field goal to give the Jets a 2-0 start.

Game Ball
Jets Cornerbacks Darrelle Revis restricted Hines Ward to just two receptions for 19 yards and Nnamdi Asomugha shut out Santonio Holmes to 2 receptions for 25 yards. Ben Roethlisberger threw for just 153 yards this afternoon.

Key Stat
The Jets only had 25 total yards throughout the first half but exploded soon after. Dustin Kellers 74 yard touchdown put the back in the game. For the second game in a row the Steelers Offense has not scored an offensive touchdown in the second half of the game.

Noteworthy
Although on the losing side Ben Roethlisberger completed 20 of his 28 passes for 153 yards.

Story
PITTSBURGH -- The Steelers are back so it seemed.

The Steelers started the game off how they did against the New Orleans Saints, rushing the football. Extremeley well.

Going up against the Best Corners in the NFL the Steelers knew they had to pass the football around. Heath Miller had 11 receptions for 104 yards and the Steelers were spreading the ball around like penut butter on toast. Until Heath Miller got injured.

And that is when it went -- down hill.

The Defense began to make big mistakes, costly ones which resulted on long offensive drives from the Jets and touchdowns.

Ben Roethlisberger may of been sacked but with the Jets Nickel Cornerbacks doing a good job on containing Mike Wallace and Limas Sweed it all seemed that the motivation switched to the Jets during the fourth Quarter as Ben Roethlisberger had nobody to throw to.

"It was annoying, when you got guys like Revis and Asomaghua doing a good job, it just frustrates us" Said Ben Roethlisberger after the game in the locker room.

"I'm dissapointed in our Performence" carried on the two time Super Bowl winning Quarterback "We can't blame Jeff for his mistake, us putting only 13 points on the board is a problem"

A problem it is if they want to fix it by next Sunday's night enounter against the Baltimore Ravens who are allowing just 300.0 yards per game this season and restricted the High Powered Offense of the Indianapolis Colts to just 13 points and 181 yards total offense.

Notes:Heath Miller broke his ribs on a risky pass play and may be sidelined for up to 3 weeks. He will be back in Week 6 after the bye. ... The New York Jets under Rex Ryan has started out 2-0 for two consecutive years and allowing just 16 points a game in those four games.

PITTSBURGH, PA—

It was over when...
With 4:08 remaining in the 4th Quarter and on third down on Baltimore's 7 yard line Joe Flacco threw a interception to Rookie Cornerback Earl Thomas who took it back 25 yards for a Touchdown. ... The Ravens did go back down the field and score a touchdown but instead of deciding to try an onfield kick they elected to boot it back to Dexter McCluster and Santonio Holmes picked up a first down on the ensuing drive to run out the clock.

Game Ball
Ben Roethlisberger threw an interception on the first play of the game in Baltimore's endzone after a kickoff recovery but went onto throw for 267 yards and complete 28 of 38 passes for 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.

Key Stat
The Steelers kept their drives going by completing 8 of 13 third downs. Each team fumbled on a kickoff return, one at the start of the game and one at the end of the half. Earl Thomas leads all Rookies with 2 interceptions and 2 defensive touchdowns. When he has an interception the Steelers are 2-0.

Noteworthy
Earl Thomas recorded 5 tackles and a defensive touchdown. James Farrior had 10 tackles in the second half and Derrick Doggett recovered a fumble made by Daniel Sepulveda on the starting kickoff.

Story
PITTSBURGH -- Before the game in the Baltimore Ravens Lockeroom the whole Steelers roster were listening to Bob Dylans "These times are a changin' song on the radio.

It was fit for the occasion as the Steelers made a statement by beating the defending AFC North Champions and claiming they are back to claim what was theres during (01,02,04,07,08).

The Steelers came out ready whilst the Ravens were still asleep for the better part of 22 minutes.

"On Special Teams we knew we had to make a play, I'm glad we did" Said Doggett after the win.

The Steelers did just that but Ben Roethlisberger threw an interception on the next play and already the fiercest rivalry in the NFL had two turnovers.

There were more turnovers as Stefan Logan fumbled on a Kick Return with the ties scored at 10-10 with just 2 minutest left. Flacco went downfield and put the Ravens ahead 16-10. Ben Roethlisberger brought his team back quickly to turn the deficit into 3 points as the half ended.

The game was an interesting one. Out of the 8 touchdowns, 3 were by Rookies and the last was by a Rookie which clinched the game.

"Im told yall at the start of the season" said Thomas "I'm out here to play some ball and make plays to get us to the post season"

That is just what he is doing.

The Steelers fixed up their apparant Offensive problems and put 21 points up on the board during the second half.

"I thought we played a good all around game, there were mistakes we can get better and we will" said Coach Tomlin in the post game conference.

The Steelers are now 2nd in the division behind the 3-0 Cincinnati Bengals.

Notes:Pittsburgh Steelers Wide Reciever Santonio Holmes now has 8 consecutive touchdowns in 8 games against the Ravens. ... In six games (inc post season) against the Pittsburgh Steelers Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Joe Flacco has thrown nine touchdowns (1.5 per game) and seven interceptions (1.16 per game).
