2010 NFL Week 6 - Game Report ![]() ![]() ![]() Pittsburgh Steelers (3-1) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-4) Steelers score 21 unanswered points, Buccs keep it interesting ![]() The Buccaneers took a early 6-0 lead into the half but mistakes cost them during the second half Box Score - 00 - 00 - 14 - 07- 21 - 03 - 03 - 00 - 06- 12PITTSBURGH, PA— It was over when... With just over two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter leading 14-6 and place on the Buccaneers 8 yard line Ben Roethlisberger went on a bootleg and threw a 8 yard touchdown pass to Tyler Grisham to put the game to bed 21-6. Game Ball Ben Roethlisberger completed 27 of 36 passes for 301 yards for a 75% completion percentage and threw 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. After throwing an interception on his first throw of the game and another soon later he threw for 261 yards and 3 touchdowns in the second half. Key Stat The Tampa Bay Buccaneers picked up 13 first downs throughout the game but five of them were in their first drive of the game. The Steelers limited the Buccaneers to just 112 total yards during the second half. The Steelers commited 3 turnovers to the Buccaneers 0 but still won the game despite the Turnover battle. Noteworthy Santonio Holmes had 4 receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown. ... This included a 28 yard gain. Story PITTSBURGH -- The Buccaneers looked good during the first half -- But that was it. It's what they have been doing all season long whilst starting the season 1-4. Not finishing games. The Steelers are beggining to finish off games and not hang around with the lower level teams which they were doing the previous season. The Steelers had big problems during the first half they had big plays which were called back. Kraig Urbik was worked all day only to hold the opponents Linebacker when Mike Wallace and Rashard Mendenhall made the required play. Only to be in reverse as the Steelers offense watched from the sidelines as the Buccaneers moved the ball at will. "It was frustrating" commented Hampton. "We couldn't get them off the field and let our offense down during the first half". So did the Offense as they kept coming off the field early. "I told the troops at half time we got to do better, we should be embarrased I am at our current performence" said Roethlisberger was was voted game mvp. The Steelers embarrased themselves in the first half but got hold of themselves and reedemed themselves and put on a good defensive and offensive performence during the third and fourth quarter. The (4-1) Steelers now move on and host the (4-2) Carolina Panthers. Both teams are looking to solidify their season with a big win to gather momentum down the final stretch of the first half of the season. Notes:Pittsburgh Steelers Tight End Heath Miller sprained his elbow and may be out for at least two weeks. ... Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for 300 yards for the first time this season. ... He has a completion percentage of seventy one percent. |

2010 NFL Week 7 - Game Report ![]() ![]() ![]() Carolina Panthers (4-2) at Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) Panthers win close one ![]() On the first play of the game Ben Roethlisberger threw a 68 yard touchdown pass to Mike Wallace Box Score - 07 - 00 - 11 - 06- 24 - 10 - 03 - 00 - 09- 22PITTSBURGH, PA— It was over when... 3:20 remaining during the fourth quarter, on third down and on the Steelers Goaline DeAngelo Williams darted in a touchdown to put the Panthers up 24-19. The Steelers got the ball back and made a field goal but a 40 yard last gasp hail mary attempt by Ben Roethlisberger to Limas Sweed was not enough as it was far short of the endzone. Game Ball Rookie Panthers Wide Receiver Dezmon Briscoe had a dream game today. The Rookie caught 3 passes for 95 yards and two touchdowns, one which was a 52 yard gain. Key Stat The Steelers moved the ball very quickly during the first quarter with a 68 yard touchdown pass and a 51 yard run by Rashard Mendenhall things were looking promising. Until the fourth Quarter they couldn't establish any offense which led to their demise. Noteworthy Rookie Cornerback Earl Thomas completley shut out Steve Smith to 0 receptions. Story PITTSBURGH -- The Steelers only have themselves to blame for this loss. "We were on fire during the first quarter, then the light went out" said Wide Reciever Hines Ward. "We don't know what happened" said Troy Polamlu. The (4-1) Steelers were expected to win this one. And win they should of but blown coverage plays were the fault. The Steelers looked good enough in the fourth quarter early on as Ben Roethlisberger in 14 plays made 12 straight completions in 88 yards to put them back in front but the defense collapsed on the goaline stand allowing DeAngelo Williams to enter the endzone unscathed. This loss will hurt Pittsburgh as they are only 1 wins infront of the Bengals and the Ravens and are currently #4 seed in the AFC Conference. This may be a wakeup call for the Steelers as they visit the (3-3) New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium who are on a 3 game win streak with wins over the Ravens, Browns and Lions. Notes:The Steelers now own a 3-2 Overall series lead against the Carolina Panthers. ... Ben Roethlisberger has now passed for over 612 yards in two games. |

2010 NFL Week 8 - Game Report ![]() ![]() ![]() Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) at New England Patriots (3-3) Steelers win a Patriotic game for the ages ![]() Randy Moss celebrates past Joe Burnett as he caught the long pass to set up the game tying field goal with two seconds left... The Patriots went on to lose in Overtime Box Score - 00 - 06 - 07 - 10 - 03- 26 - 00 - 10 - 07 - 06 - 00- 23PITTSBURGH, PA— It was over when... With 10 minutes left in Overtime Tom Brady threw an interception to LaMarr Woodley which set up the game winning 41 yard field goal. Game Ball LaMarr Woodley recorded 3 tackles and a sack. More importantly he also grabbed two interceptions, one of them which set up the game winning field goal. Key Stat The New England Patriots had no rushing yards by half time. They were one dimensional all day as they were held to 19 total rushing yards. Noteworthy Ben Roethlisberger completed 25 of 42 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns. Story PITTSBURGH -- This game will be one of the best games you would ever seen -- during a regular season. In a post 2000 rivalry the two powerhouses collided for an intense duel that could not be decided by 60 minutes and needed a fifth quarter. The Steelers nearly gave the game away on muffed returns and fumbles but they kept going and came out as winners. "Man that was a good game and i mean that, it was interesting and exciting with all the emotions" said Coach Tomlin. The Steelers blitzed alot and held Tom Brady to just 74 passing yards at the half. The Steelers although down 10-6 at the half had all the momentum from the first half and the Patriots had the momentum in the second half. The Patriots nearly won if not for 1:51 remaining in the final quarter where Ben Roethlisberger took his team down the field for a touchdown with just 34 seconds left. The Drama didn't end there --- Randy Moss reeled in a 37 yard catch that put them within 51 yards of a field goal in which Stephen Gostkowski made. It was off to Overtime and the Steelers didn't get off to a great start by punting. But defenses wins championships and the Steelers brough maximum pressure and forced Quarterback Tom Brady to turn the ball over which eventually turned into a field goal chance that was made by Steelers kicker Jeff Reed. Notes:Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger won his first game at Gillette Stadium against Tom Brady led Patriots... He is now 3-2 all time against the Patriots. |
