Matchups:

Quarterback:Pittsburgh
Ben Roethlisberger has a record in the playoffs of 8-2 whilst Peyton Manning has a record in the playoffs of 8-8. The Playoffs are where only the clutch play and Manning made mistakes in last years Super Bowl loss to New Orleans in overtime. Ben Roethlisberger threw 27 touchdowns to only 9 interceptions for 3437 yards and 498 attempts. Payton Manning won the MVP and threw 35 touchdowns to 11 interceptions for 4627 yards on 631 attempts. Manning registered a QB rating of 98.5 and Roethlisberger registered a rating of 98.1

Wide Recievers:Indianapolis
Indianapolis's Reggie Wayne recorded 136 receptions for 1955 yards and 19 touchdowns, Dallas Clark registered 116 receptions for 1113 yards and 6 touchdowns. The Steelers lost Hines Ward, Mike Wallace and Limas Sweed to injuries and Heath Miller caught 69 balls for 684 yards and 3 touchdowns. Santonio Holmes recorded 78 receptions for 899 yards and 7 touchdowns. It's clear the Colts were more productive in the passing game and are healthy in that are for tonight's game.

Offensive Line:Pittsburgh
The Colts gave up 67 sacks to Pittsburgh's 36. The Colts gave up 3.9 sacks per games to Pittsburgh's 2.1. Max Starks was voted Offensive Lineman of the Year.

Running Backs:Pittsburgh
Rashard Mendenhall carried the ball 299 times for 1233 yards and 5 touchdowns. Ole Miss Rookie Dexter McCluster ran the ball 45 times for 338 yards for a big average of 7.5 yards per carry. Joseph Addai carried the ball 195 times for 801 yards but did not fumble the football and scored 7 touchdowns. The Colts run game may not get anything going against the Steelers.

Defensive Line:Indianapolis
Dwight Freeney registered 16 sacks and Robert Mathis 7. Aaron Smith and Brett Keisel combined for just 7 sacks.

Linebackers:Pittsburgh
The Steelers gave up under 900 yards of rushing on defense through James Farrior, Lawrence Timmons, James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley. Woodley and Farrior were voted to the Pro Bowl whilst James Harrison is on Injured Reserve. Timmons will be on the outiside and Micah Johnson will make his first start at Middle Linebacker. LaMarr Woodley tied the Franchise record with 16 sacks this season.

Secondary:Pittsburgh
Last Year the Steelers cornerbacks combined for just 2 interceptions. This year Earl Thomas alone had 7 interceptions and each game they had won. Troy Polamalu had 3 interceptions with Ryan Clark and Ike Taylor notching one each. Bob Sanders and Marvin Bullitt had 3 and 4 interceptions respectively but were nothing of the ballhawkers as Earl Thomas.

Overall Advantage:Pittsburgh
Expect the Steelers to come out with a close 21-17 win.

2010 NFL Divisional Rounds - Game Report

Indianapolis Colts (11-5) at Pittsburgh Steelers (12-4)

Steelers dominate Colts, play Titans next in AFC Championship Game

Reggie Wayne recorded 3 receptions for just 50 yards as Ike Taylor shut him down

Box Score
- 00 - 03 - 00 - 07- 17

- 03 - 10 - 03 - 16- 31

PITTSBURGH, PAŚ

It was over when...
With 2:22 remaining in the power house Divisional Round clash and the Steelers leading 25-22 Ben Roethlisberger connected on a 22 yard slant pass to Santonio Holmes in the endzone to put them up 32-17 and to deliver the Steelers into their third AFC Conference Home game in just five years.

Game Ball
Steelers Cornerback Earl Thomas, the NFL's interception leader with seven during the regular season, picked off Peyton Manning, recorded 8 tackles and sacked Peyton Manning on the Colts last play. When he has an intercepton the Steelers are 8-0.

Key Stat
The Steelers defensive line badly overpowered Indianapolis's front five, sacking Manning seven times and helping to contain the Colts to just 13 rushing yards.

Noteworthy
Ben Roethlisberger completed 18 of 25 for 251 yards and single touchdown to command the Steelers past the Colts. His Quarterback rating was 117.2 compared to Peyton Manning's 70.6.

Story
PITTSBURGH, PAŚ "This is what we wanted to prove."

The Steelers are back in the AFC Championship for the fourth time in seven years.

Nobody thought they could make it after .500 record last season.

The Steelers brushed the dirt comments of the Critics aside and controlled the Colts for the better part of 60 minutes.

The Steelers harassed Peyton Manning all game long as he tried to put the Colts in the AFC Championship Game for the fourth time in five years.

Normally unmistakeable, he looked lost at times and finished 16-for-33 for 263 yards two touchdowns and two costly interceptions.

The Colts gave all they had this game

It wouldn't be though as the (13-4) Steelers beat the (12-5) Colts by some distance this Sunday.

Peyton Manning is now 8-9 all time in the playoffs. It all went wrong with the interception of Earl Thomas

"It was as if he was able to read my mind" mumbled a miserable Peyton Manning freezing in the cold on the sideline interview briefly after the game

Said Roethlisberger: "He went against the the best defense in the world."

The Jets may of had the best ranked defense before crashing out of the playoffs to the soon to be AFC Championship Game opponents the Tennessee Titans 34-13 who were without Chris Johnson.

Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as clutch as they come delivered today he didn't play with the Stats but when he needed to make a play he made it.

Notes:The Steelers are now 8-0 when Earl Thomas has an interception... Since the the Houston Oilers franchise moved to Tennnessee in 1997 the Titans are 4-3 against the Steelers at Heinz Field. But are 0-2 against the Steelers in the last two games at Heinz Field.
