Default Goodell's Contract Extended Through 2015

The vote occurred last December at a league meeting in Dallas.

“Commissioner Goodell and his staff have done an outstanding job, and this is a statement of confidence in Roger’s leadership,” said Falcons owner Arthur Blank, chairman of the NFL’s Compensation Committee. “NFL ownership recognizes his already significant list of accomplishments and is fully behind his strategic vision for the future of our league.”

The terms of Goodell’s new contract haven’t been finalized, but Blank added that “there will be no change in his annual compensation.”

in the last month alone he's screwed up the pro-bowl and is trying to ban the 3-point stance. The response was universal yet "someone" thought he deserved an extension?

I'm confused.

I guess this is the owners' way of saying "hey, at least he isn't Bud Selig!"

What a joke. This guy no more deserves a contract extension than the head of AIG.

It was a unanimous vote, therefore the Rooney's not only voted in the affirmitive for Goodell's retention, they also believe it correct to award him an extension! They know much more than any of us do about what's best for the league, therefore this is obviously wonderfull news!

Personally, I'd think they would have waited to see how the whole CBA was going to work out. For all we know, this guy just got a huge extension just in time for a long lockout.
