PITTSBURGH - Twas the night after free-agency began, and while Chi-town was busy signing players, including one the Steelers were eying, Chester Taylor, as expected all was quiet on the South Side.
The Steelers have never gone after high priced free-agents and never will, instead sticking to the bargain basket, which is a reason Leigh Bodden, whom the team also had been eying more than likely will not end up wearing black and gold, unless he takes a hometown discount. As of now the only player scheduled to visit the UPMC facility today is Receiver Arnaz Battle, but he will also visit with Seattle according to a league source. Minnesota may also be in the mix along with the Bengals. Battle is a slot receiver who would fit well in the Steelers system. In the mold of Hines Ward, not only was he a college quarterback, but he is a tenacious hitter downfield. Last season he only had five receptions for 40 yards, but he was a key contribute on special teams. He forced one fumble and had nine tackles. For his career, the 30 year old 6-1, 208 pound Battle has averaged 12.1 yards per catch and has 176 career receptions. As for Steeler players, Ryan Clark is drawing interest from five teams now, including the Steelers. The Cardinals and Bears who already have made a big splash into free-agency are interested and appear to be front-runners. The New York Giants also were on the radar screen, but signed Antrel Rolle, who the Cards dumped in a salary move. More than likely that signing has priced Clark out of the Steelers range. Rolle commanded a five-year, $37-million contract including $15 million in guaranteed money. While Clark won't get that amount, the Cardinals who wooed away Bryant McFadden last season from the Steelers, are now in need. With Rolle now gone, and money freed up with the trade of Anquan Boldin to the Ravens, Clark could end up in Pitttsburgh West with a long term deal he likes. As for other Steeler free agents, the Vikings are reportedly interested in Willie Parker, but he will make his first free-agent visit to the Redskins, possibly as early as today and one source has said the Packers may have an interest in Willie Gay. http://www.examiner.com/x-2703-Pitts...iner~y2010m3d6 Wasn't sure where to put it mods feel free to move it or join it with another one if this isn't right.

i was betting that was were he would end up. dosnt really make sense since he is going to want the same money rolle got so why wouldnt the cards just keep the guy who is younger and knows the defense. im getting sick of the cards stealing all our players but it gives me great satisfaction to know that they wont be seeing the playoffs anytime soon now that warner is gone

No surprise here, most of our free agent players end up with "Pittsburgh West".
