Default Steelers raise ticket prices again

Steelers raise ticket prices again
http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_670428.html
By The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Saturday, March 6, 2010
Last updated: 5:49 pm

For the fourth time in the past six seasons, the Steelers are raising ticket prices.

Season-ticket holders began receiving invoices today that detailed the price increase. A ticket that cost $85 last season will cost $92 for the 2010 season.

In a letter to ticket holders, the Steelers said the increase was so the team could "continue to meet the challenges of remaining competitive in the National Football League."

Curiously, the two times the Steelers did not raise ticket prices in the past six years was following their Super Bowl championship seasons in 2005 and 2008.

The Steelers also announced that their final preseason game will be played at Heinz Field on Thursday, Sept. 2 against the Carolina Panthers. The rest of the preseason and regular-season schedule will be released at a later date.

Why not. An extremely loyal fan base. I bet ticket prices could be increased to $200 and it wouldn't make a difference.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the uncapped year so they can spend more money.

I wouldn't mind paying $92 to see the Steelers destroy the Ravens.

Worth every penny when it comes to the Steelers. I see nothing wrong with this one bit. People will pay the money so why not?

Its a mistake. Fans are going to eventually get tired of getting tickets raised. Especially after not making the playoffs. Steelers better be careful.

Yeah, I'm sure they had to raise prices to pay for all these expensive free agents they've been signing.

Why? The Steelers' ticket prices were under the league average last year. They missed the playoffs one season after winning a SB. It's not like they've missed the postseason for the past decade.
