Yes, I know. If charges are filed though, he cannot settle...that was my point, hence he cannot settle a criminal case (meaning a pending one) out of court. Nobody can.

If he settles, then that makes him look guilty, even if he's not guilty. If he is innocent, he should deal with the publicity and go to court and prove his innocence. His name can only be cleared through being found not guilty.
