18. Pittsburgh Steelers: OL Maurkice Pouncey, Florida -- Idaho's Mike Iupati is a potential pick here, but Pouncey is running up a lot of boards for his intelligence with line calls. The Steelers may or may not be looking for a franchise quarterback sooner than later, but one thing's for sure - if the guy under center isn't Ben Roethlisberger(notes), Pittsburgh's front office will have to stop assuming that their QB can fight off five different pass rushers on every play, and actually do something about the offensive line. Pouncey is tough enough to deal with all the 3-4 nose tackles he'll face in his new division and elsewhere.

He's a reach, the steelers should stay away from him. The steelers should not be taking guys who all of sudden rise up draft boards during workouts and combine.

he's not a reach. if we dont grab him i doubt he will go until 31 with the colts

because unless it is the latter, taking him with the 18th selection is a reach.

everyone says he is the best center to come out in a long time. as for us grabbing him, i doubt we would at 18. we can trade down to 28 and still grab him

I wouldnt agree with that. I think that you only have to go back one year and see that Alex Mack was a much better prospect.

its much less risky to address the BPA in another area of need with the 18th pick. people always say how easy it is to move back and have a telegraphed target fall in our lap.

this ignores how easilly the colts can move up to 26 and leave us standing at the altar.

I would agree on that. Mack and Wood were both solid centers and maybe Pouncey rates along with Eric Wood. Then I would say Nick Mangold is also better.

Interior linemen generally are not as highly valued as a guy that can play LT or a true blue chip guard. Trading back 6-8spots and getting him and another 2nd round pick is an option that I would like.
