Rivers to 49ers ???

Rumors are picking up alot of steam here lately that San Fran., is looking to trade away the number 1 pick in the draft, to San Diego for Philip Rivers. Heard this on ESPN Radio this morning on the way to work.

Thoughts?

i think its the smartest thing to do, rivers is probably better than smith and rodgers, but man, imagine leinart entered the draft

I read that this morning, that and Ricky Williams possibly coming back to Miami, and the brownies trading down, could change the whole draft. All just rumors right now,

I think this trade helps both teams. The 49ers would get a QB who is better than the two available in this years draft. I would bet the Chargers would take Braylon Edwards with the first pick...........Imagine Brees. Gates. Braylon Edwards, and LT. That would make for a great offense.

not gonna happedn the chargers dotn wotnt he 1st pick adn the 49niners dotn wont rivers, rivers is btter then bopth qb's coming out this year so dotn know why not but its a bad rumor.and with the chargers just givign rivers 7mill form his contract they wont trade him this year.

man the chargers are just stock piling #1 picks. they already have 2, and this would make 3. they could trade out of the first spot if they dont want braylon edwards, and pick up more 2nd and 3 rd round picks.. or get a player from another team.

The draft is changing as we speak, Mel Kiper is probably brushing his hair now, cause you know he`s not pulling it out

I'm going to have to agree that this is a rumor, seeing that they had paid rivers a bonus for being on the roster or such. Usually you use those marks as deadlines to get deals done, so you don't pay then pay again later by losing your investment. I'd be surprised if they did this. Besides they could wait and then get in a few years if he pans out and they still need a qb(like a DelHomme deal back up ready to emerge).
