If the crowd on the inside of the Mellon is that quiet again, I think they should force out all the people right around the rink and let the people from the outside come on. I don't know if it was the microphones on the camera, but that crowd didn't look too into it.

Damn, I just read that Staal will be out for the playoffs with a severed tendon. I suspect this will be a big loss for the Pens.

O boy, that might hurt a little. Staal is a pretty good player... other than the fact he misses the goal on a lot of his shots. He's really fast though on ice.

Man that stinks...his first major NHL injury couldn't come at a worse time.

There's a tiny bit of hope in there though, depending on how fast he can heal. He's a trooper so I'm sure he'll try to be back as soon as possible.

It was originally believed that he would miss the remainder of the playoffs, however depending upon the healing process it is possible that Staal could join the Penguins drive by the Conference Final should the Penguins advance that far.

Pens' Staal undergoes "procedure"

Penguins center Jordan Staal has undergone what coach Dan Bylsma described as a "procedure" to repair a severed tendon in his right foot.

Bylsma said he is listed as "day-to-day" and pointedly reports that Staal is not out for the season.

Man this sucks but there is a glimmer of hope that Jordan can heal up so as not to miss the entire playoffs. Get well soon - we need ya out there buddy!

Staal is a huge loss in terms of depth down the middle, but I'm glad that the injury is not as severe as they first thought. I doubt he returns for this series, but then again, it won't matter since I still think the Pens will beat the Habs in 5 games without him.

I agree with Killer...again...that Malkin has to step up a little bit. He's been coasting out there at times and has been taking WAY too many penalties. He's no good if he's sitting in the box. I also think you will see Sid on the PK a little more in Staal's absence.

Yupp Staal is a trooper and would be surprised if he was not back midway through the next round. Still agree I called Pens win in 5 games and hold true to that fact. Huge loss on the PK, but I like Sid on it because he can be a threat for a short handed if the other team makes a mistake. The Pens will be fine and Staal will return to us!
