Default Kevin Mawae

THis was a question on Steelers Addict.
Would you bring Kevin Mawae in for 1 yr at Center and So he can improve the line & Teach Pouncey the tricks of the trade?
I like the Idea but my concern would be the Chemistry with the other lineman. However, if they started Pouncey now they'd have the same adjustment period. So I'd bring in Kevin MAwae.

No...simple as that. Why bring in someone from outside our system and hope he picks up the plays/etc/etc. I dont think Pouncey needs to learn how to play center. He just needs to get used to the bigger/badder guys in the NFL and learn the plays and he will be fine.

OK, My thinking was to Improve our Oline and Help in the running game. Without Ben for 4-6 weeks were going to need to run the ball better. I dont think Pouncey needs to learn how to play center but who's better to teach him than a Pro Bowl Center because HArtwig sucks as a center. Hartwig would then become a versatile veteran backup or release him and save money that can goto Woddley.

Exactly, Help the Team and groom Pouncey.
I was wondering if you think The Steelers would have an issue with him being the Union President? I think not because Charlie is the Union VP.

he has played for 3 teams and most likely a lot of different schemes in 17 seasons. Not much for him to learn

definatly not. there are teams that think that way which has alot to do why nobody signed him yet but not the steelers.

I said no to Mawae before and will say it again. I also didnt want Jeff Saturday last year when he was out there. Both of these guys are old and light in the weight dept. They succeed on technique, angles and tenacity.

Pouncey can learn what he needs to from Kugler and the film room and watching Hartwig. No need to bring in some old guy past his prime, just to hold a rookie's hand. Its football, not the 1st day of kindergarten.

Ok, Its not about holding Pounceys hand. Its about getting back to Running the football and he's 100x better than Hartwig. He also paved the way for Chris2k. The whole reason why The Steelers are putting Pouncey at guard is so he learns the calls from the center. Who better to learn from a Pro Bowl Center of Hartwig? I choose The Pro Bowl Center everytime!
