Default Steelers bring in LB Monty Beisel

The Steelers hosted free agent linebacker Monty Beisel on Wednesday, looking at the veteran from the Kansas City Chiefs as someone who can possibly come in and add depth at the position.

?They wanted to bring me in here because they are looking for a guy that can come in and play and be a versatile player,? said Beisel. ?They have a great defense. They have had a great defense here for years. They are looking for a guy to come and add to that. They brought me in to take a look around and see what I can offer.?

The Steelers have a strong corps of starting linebackers returning, with Joey Porter, Clark Haggans, Larry Foote and James Farrior, but Kendrell Bell signed with the Chiefs as a free agent this off-season, leaving an opening in a back-up role.

?They have their four guys they had last year coming back and they like all four of them,? said Beisel. ?They are looking for a guy to come in and compete, play all four positions, possibly, and play special teams and fill in where need be.

?I?m looking for a place where I can come in and find the right fit and hopefully it might be Pittsburgh.?

Beisel was originally drafted by the Chiefs in the fourth round in 2001 out of Kansas State and spent the last four seasons with them. He started nine of the 11 games he played in 2004 while filling in because of injuries, after playing mainly on special teams and in a reserve role his first three seasons.

He finished fourth on the team in 2004 with 64 tackles and added an interception, forced fumble and a fumble recovery. Getting the playing time with the starting defense was a big boost for him.

here's the rest of the story

Nobody with Hanson would have a nose like that! Hard hitting you have come to the right place. Your locker will be next to Kreider as he has the band aids.
