Default And So it Begins....

So...
The United Socialist States of America ("I'm back in the USSA...") had its Health Care Reform shoved down its throat after some back-room wheeling and dealing took place and Nancy Pelosi,et al stood there chanting, "Yes we Will (continue to ram what the country doesn't want up its collective @$$ so long as it promulgates our Socialist agenda)".

I just got the expected "Changes to your Policy" mailing from BC/BS

ALL deductibles have been increased
ALL co-pays have been increased
The allowable prescriptions (meds that BC/BS will pay for have decreased
Co-pay for diagnostics tests (CT,MRI,etc) has increased
Prescription drug refill percentage has been increased (previously at 60%, now at 75%---this means that you CANNOT refill a prescription until at least 75% has been used; for example, 23 days into a 30 day prescription
and, as it reads, "Five new exclusions will be added. See certificate booklet insert for details."----I did not read the "details"; I simply cannot do it right now.

So glad that Health Care Reform has lowered everyone's costs.
(As if these govt douches didn't know that this was going to happen...)

My BCBS premium has gone up every single year since I signed up for it. Hell it's actually tripled in the last 5 years. I actually believed them when they told me that my premium would drop after being smoke free for 12 months. Took a stupid test to prove I was nicotine free and my policy still went up. If nothing else I've saved a small mountain of money in the last 6 years by not smoking.

I talked to my mom about this who's in the medical field and this isn't to bash on conservatives or liberals or anyone, but she said that things like this are normal. She said it's the insurance company, not from reform. Now unless it said something that it is directly linked, than that's a different story. Anyways, our health care has gone up before Obama was president and has still gone up. She said it's going up because everything else is going up, which makes sense. Now my opinion on the health care reform is I'm not for it, but I'm not against it. The system does need tweaked, but NOT in the manner it just has been. I DO NOT like the fact that you could be fined and/or sent to jail for not buying into the insurance, that's uncalled for. I also don't like how the government is having a more control over us in certain areas. Anyways enough about politics and back to Steelers football... O and no bashing on my mom and no she's not a liberal.

Therein lies the rub. This was a REAL chance to actually REFORM A BROKEN SYSTEM.

Instead, we are just pumping more cash into the broken one which will only make all the same problems we now have worse.

My premiums went up three days after the health-care bill passed. I'm not saying there's a connection, but that's the reality. The promise of more affordable health care was nothing more than propaganda to sway public support for the bill.

I think a lot of people are going to get a rude awakening when the new system fully kicks in. People who are rich don't have to worry because they can afford their own health care. People who are poor don't have to worry because they'll get government assistance. As usual, it's the people in the middle who have to worry.

There are millions of people who live paycheck to paycheck and can't afford to buy insurance but make too much money to qualify for government assistance. If you don't buy insurance, you'll have to pay a fine. That's going to be a kick in the gut to millions of people who are already struggling financially.

I agree!! As much as I hated the idea of the "public option," I'd prefer that over what we got stuck with.

What is BC/BS? The company I work for is self-insured, I wonder how this will affect me.
