In the second installment of my many draft comparisons this summer we will discuss passing up the 2005 Super Bowl MVP for the Quarterback turned Wide Receiver Antwaan Rndle El who just 1 Super Bowl later threw the winnning touchdown pass to Hines Ward.
In the 2nd round of the 2002 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers missed an opportunity to draft Deion Branch and instead drafted Antwaan Randle El. In what could be an either choice, they never turned out to be #1 targets despite there 2nd round draft choice. However Branch, in 2005 recorded 998 yards and 78 receptions and later was the Super Bowl MVP. He never turned into a Wes Welker or Randy Moss type player and was an up and down player in New Cheatland. Antwaan Randle El ![]() Stats 348 receptions 4214 yards 63 touchdowns Awards Threw winning touchdown pass in Super Bowl XL Deion Branch ![]() Stats 390 receptions 4979 yards 28 touchdowns Awards Super Bowl XXXIX MVP Had two 100 yard games during a Super Bowl I'm going with Antwaan Randle El, but this draft was filled with a shit group, a group that never panned out. It included 2 first round wide receiver busts that surprise surprise started or ended up playing for the Raiders. |

I also prefer Randel-El. Solid team player and has put up decent stats as 2nd / 3rd WR and was a threat on returns and trick plays as well.
El in Washington wasn't fantastic in Washington, but was at least decent IMO. Branch looked like mouse poop after he left his cheatin gways behind with the *Pats. |

Both are scrubs but Randle El moreso of the two. He was not decent at all in Washington. Look at his numbers and that was at #2 receiver. He's no threat in the redzone, has yet to break 4 TDs in a season, and has a season high of 728 yards. Wallace did that his first year and wasn't even a starter. He was ok in Pittsburgh, not as a WR but as a PR, but only got worse as he aged. Shit FA signing by Colbert and I don't know how Tomlin approved of it.

i would take EL because of his PR skills. he did decent in pittsburgh but sucked in washington. i dont really blame him for being bad in washington because he played for a bad team and that makes a differense. anyone who dosnt belive me just look at wes welkers stats in miami before he became a patriot. he was a nobody and now he is the most important player on the team.(yes, he still stood out when brady was hurt)

I really hope Emmanuel Sanders is a monster at training camp and preseason. We can't have a waste of a body on the field with all of our lost starters this season.

I don't think he will put up the stats Wallace will due to our QB being out and well Wallace had an amazing year. |

Don't think Branch could have made that pass to Ward to win the Super Bowl, so I'd still take El. I think Branch is probably the better pure receiver though.

El in my opinion brought more bang for the buck to the Steelers and did more than just be a receiver, he was a threat no matter where he lined up.

Can't there be a third option for Ricardo Colough?
