It wouldnt bother me if we let staley go.......I think we should try to get someting for him, not just cut him.........Staley did a geat job for us every time he played a game, bet hes hurt more than hes healthy, and we rely on our running game so much, we need a dependable guy that can stay healthy,,,i love parker, but hes gonna need some help. We not going to be able to run the ball 60% of the time, only using parker.......we need a big brusing back to take some carries

uh... wow... first off, dumping 1 player isn't gonna solve our cap solution... we are like 10 million over. Plus, we'd still have to pay him some money, if I'm not mistaken, so.... yea...

If we dump Staley now, we eat $3,513,750 against our 2006 cap. Maybe not the best solution.

Im sure there are plenty of posters who know alot more about the Steelers salary cap situation than me.
But I was of the impression that the Steelers had money from this year already invested in Staley - you might save on his wages but he will still count as a cap hit. It makes no sense to cut Staley at all - just be thankful that Willie Parker could step up enough to offer the sort of threat on the ground that gave Ben the chance to 3 great games in the SB run. NM

Suddenly, the Patriots are not simply great; they're compelling, fascinating, appearing to be almighty and a touch lawless. The Patriots didn't bother with swagger to start this NFL season; they went straight to defiant. Either you're one of them or you're about to get crushed. |

Dumping Staley is not the answer. He is a solid RB, and will provide great depth. Let's remember that the reason he didn't play this year wasn't b/c he was hurt, or that he was good enough. He didn't play pretty much because it was Bettis' last ride not b/c Satley isn't better than what Bettis was this year.
I think Staley can be a great feature back, and an even better back-up. I'm also pretty sure we will be under the cap after Bettis' retirement is official. |

What in the world kinda post is that to start a thread... ?? Staley is not going anywhere, nor is he the answer to our salary cap ?? How many times do people have to realize that the Steelers have alot invested in Duce and do you honestly think they are gonna start the year w/ Parker as the only carry over in the backfield from 2005?
Even if we resign Verron, Staley will still be here and I will bet money on it. |

Exactly..there are alot more players who we can renegoiate with to ease our cap hit and get under enough to help us sign our FA's and draft picks.
