Steelers | Team could pursue Bryant
Sun, 12 Feb 2006 05:46:46 -0800 Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports the Pittsburgh Steelers could pursue Cleveland Browns WR Antonio Bryant, if the Browns decide not to re-sign him and they lose WR Antwaan Randle El via free agency. Browns | Bryant not likely to be back Sun, 12 Feb 2006 05:42:22 -0800 Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns WR Antonio Bryant likely will not return to the team. He becomes an unrestricted free agent March 3 and the Browns have decided to move on without him. The team is not stating their decision publicly. "We're kind of wait-and-see on that one," general manager Phil Savage said of Bryant. "He wants to test (free agency) a little bit. I think it probably helps us a little bit that way, too." Lamont Smith, Bryant's agent, disputed that Bryant wants to test free agency. Smith believes Bryant's image was healed in his time with the Browns. "The great thing Cleveland allowed him to do was show he's a team player, and he makes plays," Smith said. I don,t know about this. I'd rather keep Quincy.

I like what Quincy has done for us. I've kept up with Antonio, and he's done pretty well (after a slow start), but if Randle-El is gone, I can think of a lot worse.

Well I guess if we can sign Gardocki after he gave us the finger, then we could give Antonio the benefit of the doubt if the opportunity arises. After all Quincy used to hate us too, but he respected us none the less.

Is he actually from the Pittsburgh Area, or did he just go to Pitt from some other state? Cause if he's from this area, you know deep down he wants to be a steeler. Every kid born in this area has some kind of ties with the Steelers. My only concern is that didn't he used to be a 1st round pick? he could be asking for just a little under what Randle El wants
EDIT: Just did some research, he was actually taken at the end of the second round, so his price could be right. Plus, he's originally from Florida, so I'm not sure how much he knows about Pittsburgh and our Steelers. Plus, he probably hates us for being in his division. But, we are the reigning SB champs, and that's a gig that's hard to pass up...

He played at Pitt, was a sensation. He didn't prosper under Parcells in Dallas immediately, was turned loose. Kid's got skills, but he has to lose any & all Florida attitude to have a prayer here.
Kinda nice to be the place good athletes WANT to come to, huh? |

I thought this was a thread about the Steelers possibly signing KOBE Bryant. I would love to see that litlle b**ch go over the middle aginst Rodney Harrison or Ed Reed. |

Quote:
Parcells shipped him out because he threw a jersey into Parcell's face and had a little hissy fit. From that day forward Parcells was just waiting to get rid of him and finally did for Quincy Morgan. Then the brainiacs in Dallas let Morgan go so they can sign Peerless Price. What effing buffoons Price is horrible and Morgan showed a little promise last year. |

Antonio Bryant after the 41-0 Steeler whipping this past season............
"Humble pie, what?" he asked, refusing to back off from his stance. "You make me out to be the bad guy, and they ran a good scheme against our offense, but personally -- personally -- I can separate myself from the team and say, I don't feel they have one man over there that can cover me one-on-one. Go ask [the Steelers] if they covered Antonio Bryant one-on-one. Go ask them." Basically, what I got from this quote. Hey, we lost, but me, me, me, me. He "separates" himself. He's talking about himself in the third person? What?!?!?! It get's better............... "You ever heard of a video game called Tecmo Bowl?" asked the former Pitt star, "There were about eight [offensive] plays in Tecmo Bowl, four runs, four passes. So the other guy could pick your play. He can probably be 70 percent right in picking your play. That's how I felt today. They were guessing all of our plays." Yeah, we also were "guessing" all of the Seahawk plays on our way to winning the Super Bowl. If I recall correctly, wasn't this also the same guy that threw his practice jersey in the face of Bill Parcells? http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04209/352514.stm I will be praying tonight Antonio Bryant is not sporting a Steeler jersey next season.
