Worst case scenario.. Jerome retires.. i know i know, bite my tongue, dont say it!!!
BUT, if he does, that leaves Verron as the primary backup. Even if we take a RB on day 2 of the draft. He's shown flashes of being special, but the guy just cannot stay healthy to save his life. |

The Steelers will cross this bridge when they come to it. For one, they still have just a 1 yr tender offer to Verron(check my facts plz) so I think this shows the steelers want to put a fire under him to see if he will play hard knowing everyone is watching, based on this we will choose him as the next Steelers RB behind Duce, or let him go for greener pastures. We like Willie, but he couldnt handle getting pounded 30-40 times a game in our system. So we know we will need to update the RB position, the question is when does Jerome tell when to start?

yeah verron was tendered the 1 year deal and the Steelers have the rights to match anything should that situation arise. although I wouldnt think he'd get much attention as he's been largely injury prone.
Parker is intruiging..a guy who can outrun most of the entire NFL, not to mention anybody on the Steelers w/ the exception of maybe cedric wilson. His size and durability is what I would question at this point anyways, but we'll see. |

I think Verron is very capable of being a starter in the NFL. I like his game. He can run, catch, and pick up the blitz. I think he is a natural runner who was born to be a RB. He always looks good when he totes the rock. I think he has got great vision and a feel for how the blocks will set up. I think those two abilities make it easy for a RB to be successfull in the NFL.
I have always been impressed with his play, hopefully he can stay healthy.

Do I think Verron can do it? Not enough to sign him long term. Man I love our front office. After that first year with the new stadium and giving players so much money they didn't have to play for it, we are now making them earn it.
![]() Hope he lives up to the billing...
