Default Haven't seen this mentioned, but... did Cowher REALLY call Mr. Rooney "honey?"

At the trophy presentation? I know there's deep affection & all, but I'd be less than honest if I said I didn't wince when I heard it.

Or was that my imagination? I haven't seen anyone else write about it, so maybe it was.

No worse than him kissing Kordell Stewart....a guy whose sexual preference has all ways been in question. LOL

are you sure he didn't just say Rooney? they could sound the same, depending on how clearly he said it.

I think I remember that, now that you mention it

I'm NOT sure, but I SWEAR, I thought he said "honey." You are absolutely right, though..... with the SW PA dialect, I might have misunderstood him. I have that dialect, to an extent, so I dunno. :)

Hell, I was ready to hug any and everyone about that time, too, but I remember thinking, "Doh!"

I just thought of that, because I watched Dan Rooney's In My Own Words and he mentioned something about people calling him Rooney, and I could imagine him and Cowher being on that kind of basis by now.

Maybe..... the SW PA dialect pronouncing it more like "ruh nney" would fit, I suppose. It's kinda like my last name, "Wheeler" being pronounced "Whiller" in a way.

I've been here for 10+ years, but every now & then the regional dialect catches me offguard.

I'm sorry if using more than two-syllable words confused you, buddy..... I think I've explained exactly how it was I was surprised by it, as well as offered a possible explanation. This is discussion, right? My blood is as black & gold as anyone's here, I promise.
